I put 3 1/2" in mine and I love 'em.
There was too much dead air in the back of the car as far as I'm concerned. I like a lot of sound all around me. (I've got 10 speakers in my home system). My head unit also has a lot of controls that allows delay and "movement" of the sound. Big and I disagree on this point. At a concert, the sound may be coming from in front of you, but there is also a lot of reverberation and echo all around you, unless you are in a sound deadened facility. My opinion anyway.
