Pioneer Install not so good...Questions?

My husband got things up and running on a new install. HU is a Pioneer Z130BT with a new Pioneer XM module and Axxess steering wheel control and Kenwood backup camera. No problems with the car itself after battery hooked back up. Backup camera great when in reverse gear. The Pioneer seems to have a constant hissing noise coming from the front dash speakers all the time when the unit is on or even off in acc mode. When you cut the power to the car totally, it stops. Also sounds like a faint fan noise running behind the HU. My A/C heat unit is not even back in place yet. When using the touchscreen, seems like allot of high pitched noise inbetween picking things. Allot of high pitch noise between picking radio stations. Cannot get the Axxess to work at all even though have a solid red light showing. We didnot change the amp or speakers at all. Have pretty good sound despite all the extra noise. A little disappointed as my Pioneer install of a X920BT in the Corvette went fine and sounds great. It did have a new amp and speakers put in though. The ground wires are all grounded seperately and installed right on the new HU. Any past experiences or feed back would be great. Hoping that the HU is ok with this car and just not able to be compatible.

Does the noise change frequency depending on RPM?

We actually have not started the car yet. Only using the key on and acc so far for the install. I will start it tomorrow to see the if the noise changes with the RPMs.It seems pretty consistant sounding in the background even changing the volume up or down.

You need to make sur you plugged in you ac controls. That will cause the fan to come on if it is unplugged. I had that strang hissing. If you get line noise from running the car there is something not grounded correctly.

My money is on bad ground, where did he ground the black wire of the head unit?

I use one of the 4 bolts around the shift knob under the panel itself.

If he does not have a good ground your going to have noise. Also is the installed in a z with bose?

Got the steering wheel Axxess unit working now by unhooked Bluetooth module. Still have background noise through front speakers. We have a good ground, has been checked. Question now is, we have a Metra Nissan vehicle antenna adapter cable. Where should the blue wire on this adapter cable be connected or not connected. We currently have it connected to the blue white stripe off the back of the radio, which also kicks the bose amp. Help please...

Tomboy would you mind telling me what two wires u hooked the access signal to?

Even if you have a good ground changing the location of your ground can help, if you have the bose system I have seen bose systems have noise when adding a head unit to the stock system.

Make sure you have the correct harness that is using the rca's and not a standard wiring harness.

As for the blue wires, as long as the amp wake up wire is connected and is powering up the amp, that would not be an issue. You can have both the amp wake up wire and the antenna adapter blue wire connected to the blue wire of the head units wiring harness "or blue and white".

Husband left for job out of town today. Do you have the 130BT with the Bose amp and speakers? Will get the answer to you when I talk with him. Allot of noise still like something is running on the acc mode even though the radio is OFF. Sounds like a power noise out of dash speakers. We didnot use the rca cables.

Have pictures of the back before installed. Being that we are changing the HU but keeping the Bose Amp and speakers, we cannot use the RCA application for hook up...? Got the blue wire right now. One question...We also have added a new Pioneer XM to the HU. Are you supposed to unhook the OEM XM harness then? We think we may have two hooked up.

You are using the wrong harness... don't attempt to use it again or you could damage the speakers. I sent you the link to the right one in the other thread. You will use the RCAs for front and rear not the typical wires.

For the XM you will need to purchase Pioneers brain. Costs about $100 and will work with the factory antenna.

Matt is correct like this thread states

Thank you sooo much for the info. I will get the harness ordered. Should I unhook the stock XM unit's harness if still hooked up. We did not take it or the bluetooth module out but did unhook that.

MattP725 01-30-2012 06:36 AM

You can take the XM out it won't hurt anything or provide any benefit for that matter either.

tomboy- not sure if it's much help but for encouragement, i installed a pioneer AVH4100DVD in my G35C a while back which has the factory Bose stereo. using the 4v preamp-outs via a very similar RCA connector harness im driving the Bose amp with no noise what so ever. :)

GL with the rest of the intall.
