Pioneer Parking Brake Bypass

Someone posted this before and I asked this same question, but no one gave me an answer that satisfied me. Why is this relay necessary? I've installed multiple video headunits

Someone posted this before and I asked this same question, but no one gave me an answer that satisfied me. Why is this relay necessary?
I've installed multiple video headunits and always grounded the parking brake wire directly, with no relay. I've never had a problem. To me, why does it matter if the parking brake wire is only grounded when the head unit is on?
