Just my .02 I would hold off until it comes out. These last kenwood models were very buggy and slow, the last thing you want is another model like it. However with no hands on time with them I am not sure if this is fact or fiction.

2012 Kenwood DNX-9990HD buyers list.
1. koffeegy 2. optiontrader 3. N0SL3N 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. 10. I have seen some videos of it in action, looks much smoother than the previous model. That was the major complaint and I would hope they addressed it. |

This looks just as horrible as all the other Kenwoods. The GUI belongs in 1995. The processor may be faster but saying the touch response will be faster doesn't mean much, considering how terrible and slow the older Kenwoods are. Head units are just so disappointing. This is another marginal upgrade when they should have done a complete redesign. ZOMG wait a minute, you mean this new 2012 Kenwood has TRUE VGA RESOLUTION!?!?!?!? OMG. Wait a second, that means the screen is 640x480 resolution, aka garbage, since my phone screen is 2x smaller with 720p HD resolution. Garbage. Also note that the 9990HD has a "VGA" resolution of 640x480 but the lower-end 6990HD has a "WVGA HD" resolution which is actually a slightly larger 800x480. So what, the highest-end model doesn't even have the highest resolution?

This is the first video I found on youtube |
THE GUI is not bad, but thank GOD it is faster.
I am not a big pioneer guy, there are some threads on here about people having problems with them almost a year after purchase. Others will argue that they have never had a problem with theirs, me I have had mixed bags. |
