Just my .02 I would hold off until it comes out. These last kenwood models were very buggy and slow, the last thing you want is another model like it. However with no hands on time with them I am not sure if this is fact or fiction.

Since Kenwood added 10 to the model number, this should be an update and hopefully, not much risk of added bugs. If the GUI is faster, then that is the one thing that had me avoiding it.

Of course, this will probably be delayed until summer... :p

Yes they were buggy, but they were very reasonable with putting out updates for the 9960 in a timely maner. I love the radio, just wish the processor was faster. If they fix that main issue... I'M SOLD!

Very true. I have a DNX6960 and suffer the random iPod lock/crash issues. Hopefully the update addresses that. If not, I am looking into a Pioneer AVIC-Z130BT or AVIC-Z140BH as a replacement.

Again, I may just replace mine with a Pioneer unit and put my DNX6960 in my girl's Tahoe (if she will allow me to, lol).

I have seen some videos of it in action, looks much smoother than the previous model. That was the major complaint and I would hope they addressed it.

This looks just as horrible as all the other Kenwoods. The GUI belongs in 1995. The processor may be faster but saying the touch response will be faster doesn't mean much, considering how terrible and slow the older Kenwoods are. Head units are just so disappointing. This is another marginal upgrade when they should have done a complete redesign. ZOMG wait a minute, you mean this new 2012 Kenwood has TRUE VGA RESOLUTION!?!?!?!? OMG. Wait a second, that means the screen is 640x480 resolution, aka garbage, since my phone screen is 2x smaller with 720p HD resolution. Garbage. Also note that the 9990HD has a "VGA" resolution of 640x480 but the lower-end 6990HD has a "WVGA HD" resolution which is actually a slightly larger 800x480. So what, the highest-end model doesn't even have the highest resolution?

Which is why I am looking into the Pioneer unit(s), that I SHOULD have purchased in the beginning!

THE GUI is not bad, but thank GOD it is faster.

I am not a big pioneer guy, there are some threads on here about people having problems with them almost a year after purchase. Others will argue that they have never had a problem with theirs, me I have had mixed bags.

I am looking to get the APP Radio 2 when it is released. Otherwise I will just stick with my DNX6960 and swap the SWI-JACK for the Metra Axxess.
