Default Radio Reception issue

Just finished the install in my 2011 370 base model, and my reception just plain sucks.
I installed a Pioneer Stage 4 DEX P99RS, along with an RE Audio 500.5 amp.
Crutchfield supplied me with the antenna adapter needed to go from the motorola plug to the standard antenna connection, and I have the blue lead connected to the system remote wire of my HU, as directed.
Is there something I'm missing?
Help will be appreciated.
Ron

I hooked the blue wire to a wire that was hot when the key was on (the guy at Kenwood told me to)and not to hook it to remote lead.

Default worth a try

I'll give that a shot.
I actually hooked the remote lead for my amp to the switched 12v, and the antenna lead to the HU remote lead.... I'll try reversing them.
Thanks for the input

Yea, you need +12V on that blue antenna lead to power the signal amplifier on the antenna. It makes all the difference.

Default No Good

Switched wires today..........amp turn on lead to system remote on head unit, antenna amp lead to 12 volt switched (acc) reception still sucks.
There is a local fm station less than 20 miles from me, and this thing wont pick it up.
I dont understand it, the factory tuner was awesome. I bought a $1200.00 head unit with a $12 tuner.

I did try it both ways, and tested voltage to be 100% that all was right.
does anyone know where the antenna amp is in the car? maybe I can troubleshoot from there.
Thanks for the help.
