Bose/Non Nav Front Replacement Speakers

Been doing some speaker research on the forum. Looks like my Bose/ Non Nav has 6x9 speakers in the front door. I would like to install some Focal Polyglass 165 VB's or even 130's. Do they make an adaptor for this or will I have to fab some myself? What are my options? If I'm going to take my Z apart, I want to put something decent in for my efforts. Install will include HU, amp and front speakers only. My Bose is making me sad.:shakes head:

Thank you, nice post. I missed it. Can you point to some spacer rings for the 6 x 9's to 6.5's?

The nice thing about the Focal polyglass is all you will need is the base 6.5 speaker bracket and just use the ring that comes with the focal's to move it out a bit and that is all you need. There is a pic of them installed under the california thread.

Make sure your running them off a new amp and run new speaker wires!!

Can a base 6.5 bracket be found? I would imagine Nissan would want an arm and a leg for some. Speaker wires will be replaced and new amp and HU installed.

Yes, maybe even ask one of the members in the fs section that has wrecked.:shakes head:

You could always make your own as well.

just use these spacers. Bolt right up to the factory 6x9 bracket, just need to cut the speaker hole in the adapter accordingly. My 6.5's wouldn't clear the standard cut out.Amazon.com: Scosche SA69 Convertible 6x9-Inch Speaker Adapter - Pair: Car Electronics

Thanks Guy! Both of you were a big help. This forum is great!:tiphat:

The only problem with those is 2 things. They are very thin and will not provide the extra space needed for clearance that the base OEM ones will. So if he did use them he would have to make new MDF spacers for them.

I thought about swapping 6.5 mounts for 6x9 mounts but I like the idea of running components. Im sure someone is willing to do it.

How deep of a speaker can you fit into the hole? I am wanting to run RF T1692s. think they would fit?

With the base oem brackets and a set of spacers you can fit any 6.5

CSA0890 12-08-2011 08:20 PM

what about 6x9 though? I saw it is 3.5 inches deep

I would not recommend running 6X9's two reasons being that you can not get them in component sets and two 6.5's will actually produce the same if not better sound. Also You would be more limited to how deep you can go with a 6X9 because the center of the magnent would be centered to the hold instead of towards the bottom.

eastwest2300 12-09-2011 01:37 AM

Do they make a 6x9 component, I dont think I've ever seen anything like that.

CSA0890 12-09-2011 01:03 PM

Sorry im new to the audio world what is the advantage to buying a component set versus just a speaker

A component set is gonna have the tweeter separated from the actual speaker, which you can mount pretty much anywhere. They must be run by an amplifier, and 9 outta 10 times sound louder and much better than just speakers not being run on an amp.

harry370z 12-09-2011 02:59 PM

The stock speakers in my 370Z are 6x9' components.

What?? No offense, but I doubt nissan would have a setup like that, but I may be wrong.

The bose system in the z is 6X9's but the base system is 6.5. Besides I would far from call the stock systems good quality.
