Audio setup... need advice

Im having trouble deciding which direction to go with my audio setup.

Im having a hard time deciding on which sub/amp combo will work best for me. i do listen to alot of rap and rock but I dont want people to hear me 3 streets over, those days are done for me.

Im getting a pioneer avic-x930bt very soon and currently have polk db6501s.
Ive been considering making a spare tire box out of mdf and either using a 8" or shallow 10" sub. If I make the box, i will make a DIY for it and take lots of pics.

Heres what ive come up with so far. Please let me know if you have any suggestions and if you know of anything better.

I havent heard any of these personally, so im not sure what to expect from each of these.

I went with a Rockford Fosgate P2D2 10" sub powered by a 300watt RockFord Fosgate amp (can't remember the exact model). It's definitely loud enough for me, just need to find a way to stop the trunk from rattling.

ID and alpine combo I would go with.

Sound proof the trunk with dynamat extreme, it should take care of your rattle in the trunk.

Thanks I'll give that a shot! I noticed you're from the same area. Are you putting your Z away for the winter anytime soon? The weather has been pretty good for this time of the year...

Are the Polk db6501s going to see that much of a difference if they are amp'd?

Also, If i went with the IDs is it possible to get the speaker to 1 ohm? If so, i could use the fosgate amp @ 300watts rms.....

Dude, actually I only drive my Z maybe once every couple weeks, the roads are horrible around here, I dont like tearing it up around here, and people dont know how to drive.. LOL..

I have a hooked up Eclipse that gets a lot of looks, so I like driving both.

Sub

I purchased a 8" Alpine SWR-843-D sub (4-ohm version) from SubElectronic for less than $100 shipped. I plan to install it in my custome sub box located in the rear hatch area where the foam piece is located in front of the space tire area.

Although I have not installed it as yet, it has received a lot of attention on the DIYMA web site.

I went with a HERTZ HDP-5 amp from Wicked CAS. No issues as yet and has no unwanted noise.

a few thoughts...

-it could be worth doing some research into which amps need more air circulation and which amps run cooler and function reliably in enclosed spaces. if you're looking to mount the amps in the same space as mine (which is a common place for amps in the z), heat could be an issue. to head off any problems there, my build had a fan mounted with the amps to cool the setup during use. with that said, the arc amps i used never got too hot. i'd recommend them.

-an in-spare sub box won't provide much by way of box volume, but it was plenty space for me. i was lucky to get a stereo integrity bm mk3 slim 12'' that was perfect for the small enclosure space. it provided more than enough bass in my opinion.

-i really liked the arc audio xdi series amplifiers. they offer great performance at a decent price point and the perfect size for the z. i had a 600.1 powering front components, and the 1000.1 powering the sub. really sweet. check those out:

Arc Audio - XDi Amplifiers

finally... surf/search around on diymobileaudio.com. you can find everything you need by way of product reviews, example setups, user experiences, sub/amp combo reviews, etc. you'll get tons more information quickly over there.

gluck with the build, man.
