Is there really no way to keep the nav but switch the bottom half to the 3 knob climate control and add a double din? I feel like its possible, but just hasn't been done. I mean if you tore everything down to pcb and went at it with a raspberry pi I think anything is possible, even if the nav screen doesn't show the correct climate control/radio settings etc. Where is the limitation exactly?

Bro, I don't mean to chime in but you're beating a dead horse. The nav integrates it's brain into the guts of the bottom half of the dash. So unless you want to gut your vent tubing and find a good 8 inch by 5 inch by 6 inch space for a massive cube. It's not going to happen.

Glove box? You are probably correct about space being the hard part. I may take it all apart this winter and see what i'm looking at, need a new project anyway. I'll open that cube and can make custom PCB for everything if I have to. The firmware might be a pain in the ***. EE buddy of mine seems to think it will work.

Definitely not worth it but I may try anyway.

You'd have to extend over 50 wires and some proprietary ones to get it over to the glove box. Good luck.

Edit: Apparently lack of sleep was getting to me, tried it today and everything seems to work fine.

Information on all that is in this site, maybe not the exact path into your LCI but definitely the wiring into and out of the amp module is in the Factory Service Manual and others have posted excerpts of the FSM in here showing at least the wires and connectors. Just dig like hell.

Can anyone confirm the connector between the touch screen and the unit? Is it a 4 or 8-wire/pin connector? Was looking to put a Mimics G4 for touchscreen integration. Looked in the FSM but can't seem to find that...

You are completely WRONG!!! I plan to do another post when time permits for my setup but here is how to do the conversion from the Nav to the non-Nav setup DIY – NAV System Conversion with working rear defrost

Do that and then you can install an aftermarket head unit or do like me and do a hidden single din unit behind a Workshop Twelve 10.1 dash tablet kit. I have full steering wheel controls, mic, radio, etc with a USB connected and powered tablet.

I find a lot of these posts funny. You CAN remove the factory nav unit and you might be able to do a single din below it while keeping the NAV screen; however, you would lose the Nav functionality completely as the NAV controller is built into the AC unit. Check my conversion DIY – NAV System Conversion with working rear defrost which allows you to go to a NON-nav setup.

I went with the WorkShop Twelve 10.1 tablet kit, the needed tablet, hid a single DIN head unit vertical behind the tablet, mounted to where the Nav screen use to be, used 20-pin Subaru/Nissan Headunit/Radio Wiring Harness with Steering Wheel Switch wires, a Maestro SW Universal Steering Wheel control interface (so now I can control radio, volume, etc from steering wheel, and in order to keep the factory Bose speakers/amps I used the Scosche SLC4 (if you do NO use this the speakers will transmit static at low to no volume no matter what source you use, if radio is on you would have this low static noise). Oh, and I also needed the aftermarket Nissan antenna adapter.

If you want to do aftermarket amp and speakers just get the PAC LP6-4 Line Output Converter from the aftermarket head unit to your new amp or follow the examples in the post for a non-nav system.
