Pioneer AVIC-X930BT questions

Hey all, i am asking for the Pioneer AVIC-X930BT 6.1" In-Dash Navigation AV Receiver with iPod/iPhone Control, Bluetooth, Pandora for christmas. What else will i need in order to install it? Its a super bust time of year for me, so sorry if this is a repost :( Thanks! Also, does anyone currently have this? How do you like it? Do you recommend it? Why, why not? Thanks again!

A few others may chime in on this but pioneers have been having problems some say they do not and some say they do "usually after a year of owning one" ipod cables fail, pico fuse blows and so on.

Go with kenwood if you want my opinion. The wiring harnesses and things you will need can be found in one of the stickies at the top of the audio section.

Dash kit if you do not want a gap

Antenna adapter

Wiring harness

Metra axxess if you want your steering wheel controls to be kept

Thanks for the good words! Ill look into the kenwood

I've had several Pioneers in the past, I like them, but I recently went to a Kenwood Excelon, and I love it! Its an excellent unit.

I'm looking to stay around the same price point as the pioneer while keeping all the features. Been looking around and there is not too much out there. Any suggestions? Thanks. Also I'm assuming if I were to get something better in the future it would be a simple plug and play install, meaning It would be easier than the initial install?

I just put that same head unit in my Nismo, works great. I also added in the XM module. I got mine from crutchfield and it included the dash kit and harness with radio purchase. However, I thought it looked fine without using the dash kit. I also got the Axxis stearing wheel controller and I'm getting around to programming that in a day or so. The iPod cable is extra though. I also added rear speakers since the Nismo does not have them stock.

Very nice DC, got any pics of the finished product? How is the NAV system and audio controls? Any lag when switching music?

I'll go take a few pictures. Seems pretty fast when switching sources and the screen is responsive. I'm happy with it.

If you don't mind going used go look around ebay or craigslist. Got my kenwood for under 300.

Is the wiring there for the rear speakers?

bigaudiofanat 12-05-2011 09:15 PM

There are wires on the new head unit harness but you would have to run new speaker wires to the rear spekaers as there are none stock.

eastwest2300 12-05-2011 10:26 PM

Its a small car, so running new wires would be pretty easy.

My thoughts exactly. This is a little off topic, but could have to do with wire install. I was vacuuming my car the other day and noticed the carpet is really loose behind the seats. Never noticed it before. Im wondering how finicky the carpets will be if you tear them up to run wires...

Thats a good question, I dont think the wires themselves would mess anything up, obviously you'd wanna be very careful if you're going to completely remove the carpet itself..
