Yep just looking at it makes me want to start ripping the Z open. But still thinking about changing the headunit while I am at it. Looking at the Clarion CX501....but then I have to get something to sync the steering wheel controls, which I do use. Only advantage would be the bluetooth, and maybe low level inputs...

The reviews on the SO are really good, so I should really get on with the install.

Make it happen bro..throw that stereo in your Z, or hit the beach, you're in Hawaii.. damn, I wish I was in Hawaii!

In my WRX I had an infinity basslink.

I am not much of a audiophile, but I do like listening (and making) music. It was good enough for me, and that was with it in the trunk with backseats that would not fold down.

I am heavily considering buying one for the Z (along with new HU and polk 6.5's) but I hate the fact it would have to sit out in the open in the hatch. I don't expect the slimmer kenwoods or S.O. powered subs to be as good though. Has anyone tried these and can compare?

Ah I remember those, I did one about 4 years ago in a accord. Was not a bad sub.

Do the kenwoods compare?

I would much rather have something below or behind the seat than completely visible to the outside.

I just got the Polks and the Kenwood. Matt hid it right behind my seat. Dual 5X7's with 150watts, it freakin thumps and hits hard. Definitely put an amp on the Polks.

The kenwood actually would probably be bette for what you want and does pund pretty well. Much better than a bazooka tube, Right Steve?

Def. An upgrade over bazooka, very adjustable with the remote for gain and Hz

The bass on the amplified Polks is surprisingly adequate, but nice to have the extra oomph when you want to go LOW

hmm, looking for the thread that contained the info on adding wires to the stock harness for rear speakers. I think I will be installing the powered sub using high level rear wires so I can (temporarily) keep my stock head unit.

There are no rear wires to tap in the base and you dont want to tap them if you have bose, get a re-q for that.
