I have gone to 6 local Car audio stores they are all pushing the Pioneer except for one. This is likely because of contracts they have with Pioneer. The 1 store that is not pushing the Pioneer also sells Alpine and Kenwood.

In order
1.Alpine
2.Kenwood
3.Pioneer

And yes the 9960-9980 whichever is top of the line now is worth it.
