Default Stock Sat Antenna w Aftermarket HU

I'm looking to install a aftermarket HU (Pioneer) with their XM module but keep the stock Sirius antenna... I did this (reversed though) on a Chevy Trailblazer and just want to know if it is possible on this car too.

Anyone try this yet?

A good place to start would be Best Buy Installation. They'd know for sure.

I'm sure they all differ... I did some research and it seems that while they will work together, because the XM sats are stationary and the Sirius are orbital, the reception won't be as good by interchanging them. I remember getting some mild dropout on my trailblazer too. I'll probably take the chance though and if it is really bad I'll just switch to a Sirius tuner for my eventual aftermarket radio. Only issue is the features aren't as good and it costs more (for Pioneer at least).

He wants to add a aftermarket XM receiver so I think he is good to go as long as the plug fits.

Good info though I did not know that about the satellites.

Big they will fit according to my additional research (it was me that originally posted too) they just might experience some more frequent occasional dropout... it happened from time to time in my Trailblazer but it wasn't much more severe than the regular antenna.

I wanting to do the same with my aftermarket HU. The stock touring satelite antenna is a XM, not a Sirus. So if I got an XM tuner module, can you use the stock XM antenna? Has anybody done this?

They operate in the same frequency band, but not the same frequency. Its a patch antenna that is optimized for what its supposed to listen to.....and what its NOT supposed to listen to. An XM antenna is tuned for XM and the Sirius is tuned for Sirius. So you will not get the best performance. Just get the XM antenna, which in some cases is the antenna and low-noise amplifier in one package, once again all components tuned for what its supposed to receive and reject.

I'll try to refrase this: The stock touring antenna is a XM antenna. If I get a XM add on tuner to my after market HU, can I use the stock XM antenna instead of the one the comes with the add on tuner?
