Sorry I geeked out, but yes....the XM and Sirius channel lineup are the same for the most part anyhow. When they were two separate companies, they had different channels. Now being merged, mostly the same types of channels.....with Sirius being slightly more progressive I would say with a few extra rap and rock channels.

That's great that you guys like Sirus better. Antenna question?

anthony29115 12-21-2011 10:32 PM

Has anyone used the stock antenna for XM or Sirius?

bigaudiofanat 12-22-2011 07:15 AM

You possibly can use the Xm OEM antenna for a Xm box but not for a sirius one.

Do you know if the stock bose unit has a seperate plugin for the stock XM antenna or is it incorporated in to the wiring harness for the HU?

You can use the stock xm antenna with sirius! I've had mine done for months and my signal actually seems better with aftermarket sirius then the stock xm head unit. Just have to take the factory connector off. The factory sat radio is in the hatch next to the bose amp. Disconnect the antenna from the stock xm box. Remove the white tab then pull the pink connector off. Plug the antenna into your new sirius box.

I am doing stock XM antenna to aftermarket XM head unit/receiver. It won't be done for another month though... I'll let everyone know how it works out.

Anyone know the exact location of the XM box in our cars?

bigaudiofanat 12-23-2011 03:21 PM

The unit is in the trunk under the large foam piece towards the middle of the car.

DCNISMO 12-23-2011 04:27 PM

I stuffed my new XM unit on top of the white box thing that sits onder the HU. Them had to stuff all the extra cable in there too.
