Aftermarket NAV in Flip Up Enclosure

has anyone tried removing the flip up enclosure in their base model 370z and placing an aftermarket headunit there? I'd like to see some pics of some of your installs

Default Aftermarket NAV in Flip Up Enclosure

has anyone tried removing the flip up enclosure in their base model 370z and placing an aftermarket headunit there? I'd like to see some pics of some of your installs if it has been done. I don't really like the idea of removing the stock head unit and replacing it with a NAV there, seems pointless to have to look down to use the headunit.

thanks

Not deep enough, you can do a screen but not a full double din head unit.

Guy at your local shop needs to learn that 2 screens give you more than a radio.

thanks for the info. I was actually thinking about putting a full double din screen headunit into that space. I was planning on taking out the stock headunit to place miscellaneous things like a turbo/na timer (when i go boost) and what not.

Flip the positions.
Place your double din in the lower spot, where your radio is and any gauges/controls you want above that (also a turbo timer is not needed). Also, not sure if you have a touring model but you can place a boost controller right in front of the center console cleanly.

don't have a touring model and that does look really clean. thanks for providing the pictures. wouldn't a turbo/na timer be good for the car if I was to boost it?

I want to redo it as we just had it done quickly so we can get the HKS camp running to monitor the car.
Hopefully by the beginning of next year I will have it redone to look OEM, just have to wait and see.

Not really, modern turbo technology has changed where it is not needed.
Only time you should let the system idle before you shut it off is if you were hooning the car and then wanted to turn it off 30 seconds later. Then I would say wait a minute, but even then it is not going to destroy anything.

No, the screens you buy act only off video input and sometimes have a touch sensor so a computer can be installed to it. But not a actually head unit like a kenwood or alpine that would actually allow you to use it in that spot. Only for video input.

If you want a head unit stock location is the place.

Yep, basically your upper screen is going to be just running a video display for something like a HKS Camp 2 or a blitz or car computer.
