Default Back Up Camera Install Issue w/ Pioneer 4300 & Color CMOS/CCD 420

Issue: Camera is not turning on when going into reverse. Pioneer head unit displays "Caution: Image could be reversed" on a black screen.

Headunit: Pioneer P4300

Camera: Color CMOS/CCD 420 TV Lines Car Rear View Camera for Nissan Livina - Tmart.com

I followed this DIY:
DIY: Rearview Camera & DVD

Hooked up the black wire from Camera to negative ground on body. Followed DIY above and hooked up red wire to what looks like the orange wire leading to the reverse lights. After the fact I noticed on the 4300 Manual (pg 84) that there is some sort of Purple/White wire in the back of the head unit for a camera hookup but I am not real sure what hooks up into that?

Can anyone help point me in the right direction with this install? Thanks in advance!

Are you tapped into the RIGHT orange wire in the trunk for your head unit?

If I read this right, I should have a wire leading from the radio to the reverse wire on the tail light? Not the red wire from the camera to the reverse wire on the tail light which is how I have it currently setup? If this is how it should be what do I do with the red wire from the camera? Thanks for your help!

You need to make sure you are tapped into the correct wire. Use a voltmeter to make sure you are getting 12V when the car is put into reverse and then 0V when the car is not in reverse.

I am pretty sure that the purple and black wire from the headunit needs to go to the same orange wire of the car as well the red wire from the rear view camera.

Once all wired you need to go into the settings of your HU and change the camera setting to battery.

Then every time you shift into reverse the 12V from the orange wire will be sent to the HU and let it know to change screens and 12V will be sent to your camera letting it know to turn on as well.
