I tried it on my 2017 and couldn't get it past the diagnostic mode either. I ended up taking apart a spare tach/speedo cluster that I had for another project, pulling the circuit board that has the led's on it and removing the air bag led and installing the circuit board in my existing cluster. No more air bag light.

How much does a dealer charge to do this :/

Just keep trying man... took me 3 days the first time I tried. You have to be precise AF.

This is kicking my *** lol. I'm scared that maybe the behavior changed in '17, because the poster above gets to the same point I did.

You know what's really frustrating is that while I still had the flashing air bag light I had to pull my head unit to install wiring for gauges and when I re-installed the head unit, the light went out on it's own. Unfortunately, I had to pull the head unit again and when I re-installed it, the light came back on. I tried dozens of times to do the reset but it didn't work. Also, even if I got it to go out I was going to be installing an aftermarket seat and knew it would come back on again. That's when I said screw it and pulled the led.

I installed Sparcos in mine, and ordered an air bag emulator from www.airbag360.com . Plugs right into the seat occupancy sensor. The connectors are fragile so be gentle with it but I've had no complaints - or air bag lights.

Also, you all know that the way to prevent this from happening is to never turn the power on if the airbag light is disconnected, yes?

I really want to see someone with a '17+ get this to work. Mine is still blinking. There is a shop in town who offered to reset it until I told him I had been doing a lot behind the dash. He wants to inspect the airbag system to be sure before he resets the light for liability reasons, which sounds reasonable to me. He said it could be up to $100, which I'm about to pay because this is bugging tf out of me

I pretty much followed the advice of everyone here except one person and failing to do that bit me in the you know what! I forget who said it but heed the advice of re-connecting the airbag indicator before testing the head unit. Of course I neglected to do that and I ended up with the flashing AIR BAG icon on the dash. I drove it that evening and it didn't seem to affect anything but it is very annoying. If you are like me during the install you probably had/have wires everywhere. Rather than install the head unit in the dash and repalce the dash trim just so I could connect the air bag switch I opted to test my head unit on my lap. Reconnecting the air bag switch is awkward as there isn't much wiggle room.
Anyway the reason for this post is to tell you how to turn that iritating light off. The procedure below worked for me. Youn might have to do it a couple or three times befor eyou get the timing right. I would like to take credit for it but it was taken from another website.

****IIMPORTANT****
Turn the ignition off as soon as the airbag light goes out the first time.

If you have the airbag light blinking here is how to reset it:

1. Push the start button two times (Ignition on but engine not started).

2. Watch the airbag light closely. It will stay on for a few secs. and then as soon as it blinks off (the start of the flashing), turn the key off INSTANTLY.

3. Count to 5 (1 Mississippi, 2 Mississippi . . . .)

4. Repeat steps 1-3 two more times until you have done the cycle three times.

5. Now turn the key on and watch the light. It will start blinking in a different, slower manner. This is diagnostic mode. You can watch this for a little while, no hurry.

6. Now turn the key off again, Count to 5 like in step 3 again, and turn back on. If the procedure worked, the airbag light will not be flashing.

If it does not work the first time, just repeat the steps again.
