Nissan 370z Nismo - Speaker Options?
Hello all,
I've 370z Nismo with Kenwood DNX9140 & subwoofer/amp installed. Front speakers have been running off the HU. I'm now planning to upgrade front & rear speakers. I will be still running the speakers off the Kenwood HU. I'm more into Alpine & Polk Audio brands but my questions are that which speakers are good for my 370z Nismo? and sizes for front and rear speakers? Thanks much. |
The polk speakers work like a charm; for the sub size & brand, Alpine Type R 10" will do fantastic. The Nismo doesn't have rear speakers BTW; I'm in the process of having Bigaudiofanat install & wire rear speakers for me. He's our very own professional installer on the forum when it comes down to A/V.

I already have the HU, 12" subwoofer, and the amp (just for 12" subwoofer) installed. I am now planning to upgrade the factory front speakers, tweeters & rear speakers (if any in Nismo). My first brand option is Alpine. Second is Polk Audio. Which models are good for front & rear speakers? and the sizes for front/tweeter and rear speakers?

I have experience with the Polk as I'm running their full set including tweeters. I highly recommend them based on my experience

What are the sizes for tweeters, front and rear speakers for Nismo 370z? Also, if you dont mind sharing, what are model numbers for your Polk Audio front and rear speakers? Thanks |
Tweeters are 1 inch, you have to mod the tweeter braket a bit to use them but that is with any component set. Here is the link to those.

So the front speaker size is 6.5" ? no spacers are needed? What about mounting depth? If I remember correctly, you've recommended me to get the component ALPINE front speakers. I dont remember the model number though. Any ideas on this? I know you're not a fan of rear speakers but do you happen to know the size for rear speakers? Thanks! |
Nope no spacers are needed for THESE speakers bigger ones do need a spacer.
I think they are 3 1/4, alpine and polk make good speakers I think of polk as being a better buy HOWEVER if I remember correctly I think you were going to run them off an amp in the future if that is the case go with the alpine type r's of the polk mm's. |

I just upgraded all my speakers in my car and installed a sub and amp and rear view camera. You should look into Memphis audio clean professional. Top of the line stuff. Hit me up if you have questions.

Is this worth it?
I was quoted on a new speaker package, stereo and back up camera. Do you all think this is worth the price? I have a 2009 370z touring model.
Pioneer with Blue Tooth AVH3300BT $550 Kit $75 Harness $10 Antennae (?) $15 Labor $75 Steering Wheel Control Hook Up $150 Kenwood CMOS 200 camera $250 (installed) Rockford P215S Speakers (4 tweets and 4 mid range) + Cerwin Vega 4 channel amp installed $700 Total with cash discount $1650. This is a reputable installer in business since 1994. I told them I didn't think I needed the rear speakers (based on other posts) and they think otherwise. On the positive side, the guy recommended I only install the new stereo and see how the factory speakers sound. He said a good chance that speakers are sufficient as is. I read on another site where a Nissan Xtera 2011 owner said that he replaced stereo with this Pioneer and his factory speakers sounded great. Please let me know your thoughts. |
I would try just the head unit for now, steering wheel controls seem a little steep.

What are some good rear speakers?
Yeh yeh I know, but I like the effect of rear fill. I've got focal 165kxr2's in the front, would any of the focal speakers fit without any modifications to the car? |
I added rears and glad about it. The extra sound is great to help overcome the road noise. You have to take panels off or mostly off and shave down the plastic tabs to make them fit and you need to run wires. I bought the Boston acoustics. Search in here and you can get the model number for them as others in here did the same thing.

New Stereo Pioneer AVH 3000BT
Got my new Pioneer AVH-P3000BT stereo installed today along with a Kenwood CMOS 200 back up cam. I am happy with the improvement in my factory bose speakers, but noticed two things. One, I don't think my factory subwoofer is working right. There is barely any bass coming from it, as I could feel the air coming from it only at the lowest bass level. When I turn off the subwoofer via the receiver, there is no difference in bass. The other thing I am noticing is some background noise in the speakers, but only when I have it on level 1 or mute. Should there be noise? Is my subwoofer not hooked up correctly? I had very nice bass when the factory stereo was in.

Yes, the head unit is running Bose speakers, two tweeters, four mids and one sub in the spare tire space. I adjusted the settings on Pioneer receiver this morning and found that the sub is working. Had the Hz set too low, adjusted to 125 hz and now I hear the sub better. Problem is, the sub apparently was not wired so that I can control only it via the receiver. So now that I have a more powerful receiver, the factory speakers vibrate the doors when I want more bass. I can fade to the rear speakers to help this, but that is not ideal. I guess I am going to have to get the factory speakers replaced or live without a lot of bass. The background noise is bothering me anyway.

Don't Bose speakers run on a different ohm level? I always remember reading that you could not install another radio to use with factory Bose equipment or it will not sound right??

You have to use a PAC adapter.
