Should I get a professional installation?
 

Hi guys,

So I'm looking to get a Viper alarm installed. I was looking to get an "authorized" installer so my warranty would be valid. However, to buy and install it from a shop, it looks like it would be around $400 + tax installed. It looks like you can buy the same alarm (Viper 350 Responder) online from Amazon for $125.

Do you guys think it would be worthwhile to spend the extra money to get the warranty honored, or should I just buy it online, and have a shop install it? I figure it would save me $100-$200 to buy online.

What warranty are you talking about?

If you buy a viper alarm from amazon it does not have a viper warranty because you did not buy it from a authorized dealer.

I would say yes get it from the authorized location.

most shops wont install what they didn't sell. save urself the trouble and buy from the store.

This. Basically, unless I purchase and get it installed from an authorized installer, my warranty will not be valid. So spend and extra $200, and get the warranty, or pocket the money and be warranty-less.
