change from 2v to 4v pre-out?

is there a way i can up my pre-out voltage running to my factory bose amp? i have a pioneer x710bt, and it has the crappy 2v pre-out. i love the system itself, but WOW did it reduce the sound when hooked (properly) into the bose system. is there a way to remedy this?

can the bose amp be adjusted to be louder at all on the amp itself?

can i replace the bose amp with a higher watt aftermarket to compensate?

is there an add-on or anything of that nature i can add to my stereo to get it back to 4v?

or.........am i just going to have to replace the headunit entirely? the stereo was absolutely amazing before, now, it sounds about half as loud, VERY unimpressed.

Replace head unit it;s not going to be something you can just "boost"

90 ST 09-06-2011 12:16 PM

you could also get a line driver from Audio Control. up to 9.5 volts out.

kenchan 09-06-2011 03:12 PM

maybe speaker line to line level converter?

+1

Or Cache has a 6 channel piece for relatively low cost.

AC has a LC6i that is cheap, 6 ch 9.5 volt out.

That's what I was thinking if they make such an animal... otherwise I'd probably just replace the head unit (knowing that "just" replacing it is expensive but all I would trust to work properly).

something like this?

No, not a speaker to line level, there are RCA in and RCA outs with 9.5 volt output that you can get. These are about 150.

bigaudiofanat 09-11-2011 07:22 AM

I would not recommend any of this and just do it right with a new head unit.

agreed with bigaudio..dont try to boost the pre-out voltage. id suggest replacing the factory amp with a real amp that has adjustable gains. then get a multimeter and adjust the gains properly.

tl1284494730 09-13-2011 02:27 AM

adjust bose amp

is there a way to adjust the factory bose amp to make it louder? i put in a pioneer nav with 2v pre-outs and the system is nowhere near as loud as before with the factory 4v.

tl1284494730 09-13-2011 02:32 AM

compensate for 2v pre-outs?

my pioneer nav system has only 2v pre-outs, and i really don't want to replace the headunit (i like it). the loudness on my stereo has gone down the drain though when it went from 4v factory to the pioneer's 2v's.

i have heard that i could install a line driver such as this and it would compensate for that:

OverDrive PLUS Line Driver with Input for Remote Level Control

does anyone have something like this installed? or can anyone tell me how this works, and how it's installed?

i don't want to buy subs, or change from the bose setup, or replace my headunit. whatever options that leaves me with to get my loudness back up, i'm all ears!

bigaudiofanat 09-13-2011 08:55 AM

No

bigaudiofanat 09-13-2011 08:58 AM

Why are you creating so many threads asking the same thing. We have advised you to get a new head unit, I would stay away from anything that boosts pre out signals.

90 ST 09-13-2011 12:11 PM

Get the LC6i from Audio Control, they were one of the first to make Such a thing the LC6i goes in between the HU and whatever you have it going to with RCA cables, it takes your 2 volts and can bump it to 9.5v. it's very simple to set up. See install on they're web site.

kenchan 09-13-2011 01:34 PM

or take speaker level and vert it to line level.

This is the worst way of doing it.

because i specified my question, and deleted the old threads, and because this forum is for asking specific questions isn't it??? at least i'm not leaving the old ones

what i decided to do, after reading for hours on the subject on many other sites, is get the "planetaudio overdrive plus" to boost the signal. i've heard nothing but fantastic reviews on it, soon as it is installed i will post an update, could help a lot of people

Ok if you get engine wine threw the speakers we warned you.

_ace_ 09-14-2011 06:37 PM

have you already dialed the gain up on the amp to compensate? that should let you adjust a ways.

The bose amp does not have any gains to change.
