370ZilverZ: I'm reading the tutorial on PAC website, and it only mentions 150ohm resistor on white wire to pin 16. There is no need for resistor when connecting white wire to pin 6. LINK

I think they have updated the tutorial.

What you should know is their picture of the plug is reversed, If they talk about the pin 16 of THEIR IMAGE OF PLUG, we would be connecting it to the pin 12 of the nissan plug, Right Front Speaker Negative Wire. Which doesnt make sense.

So I ASSUME their image is from the pin side, and the nissan image from the WIRE side. Description also says STRG SW = steering switch.

Pin numbering from PAC wesite, reversed from the nissan image

Pin numbering from Nissan

Anyways I will be doing a Pioneer 4300DVD, rockford T2 component, reverse camera, PAC-SWIPS adapter install all togerher this weekend. I will come back with results.

Whenever you see the connector image as shown with the double lines around it, that means you are looking at it from the wire side. If it is shown with a single line around it, you are looking straight in the open pin side.

I ended up using an AXXESS ASWC as it was able to also enable phone hook on/off capability too.

This is the most confusing part of my install. Why is everyone installing 2 resistors when the instructions call for one? Did the instructions change again, or what am I missing? (The online instructions don't mention using a 47 ohm on the pink wire)

Here is what the instructions say:

"Note 179: Nissan08: Connect a 150 ohm resistor to pin 16 (Blue) in the vehicle connector. Connect the free ends of the resistors to the INTERFACE'S White wire. Connect pin 6 (Pink) in the vehicle connector to INTERFACE'S White wire. Connect pin 15 (Black) in the vehicle connector to Ground. This connector is the radio plug."

And they go on to say this, which isn't mentioned anywhere else in this post. I think it's bluetooth specific. I guess it has me just jump the pins together?

"Nissan32BT: Connect pin 12 to pin 17, connect pin 13 to pin 18, connect pin 14 to pin 19 (connector is viewed from pin side not wired side). Factory Bluetooth module is located in the trunk area."

I threw the pac swi and ordered a axxess for this same reason. Tried with 2 resistor and 1 resistir, neither worked

crap. How did the axxess install go? I'll go through the motions with this install and see what happens. Between the lousy instructions and the used resistor they gave me, I have a bad feeling about this brand.

I just installed axxes on mine and it was super easy. connect the two wires and do manual programing

Update, I had the guys at Wicked fix the PAC on my Z. They say it was just programming. Note that the wire colors didn't match between the instructions and my car, so I wired to the pin locations indicated and that worked.

Last weekend I installed the same PAC on wife's STi and I noticed that I did in fact goof up the programming. (I just didn't press the program button to skip a function!)

My conclusion is that they work fine, but are not simple for us beginners and the instructions blow chunks.

PAC SWI RC and the AXXESS ASWC-1 on a 2014 370Z base (non-Bose, non-nav.) with a Kenwood KDC-BT958HD.

VOLUME WORKS BUT NOTHING ELSE- Try swapping the two steering wheel signal wires.

AXXESS- has two sets of instructions for the Z, with one having only the two steering wheel signal wires opposite of the other, I decided I’d try it both ways. But don’t be fooled if only volume works! That doesn’t mean you have the wires right. Once I swapped the wires, everything auto-programmed flawlessly- done!

PAC - I did get the volume working, but did not try swapping steering wheel signal wires. Based on my experience with the AXXESS, you could give it a try on the PAC.
Obviously this assumes the other wiring is right- power and ground to the unit, and pin 15 on the Z needs to be grounded.

WHY I LIKE AXXESS ASWC-1 BETTER THAN PAC SWI RC
Axxess worked. I gave up on the PAC after a good try and since I found the PAC SWI RC is not compatible some Kenwoods with similar model #s as mine (See PAC website). Perhaps I just needed to swap signal wires, but there were other compelling reasons to go with Axxess as well.

Axxess has simpler wiring- The PAC-SWI RC features a bag of resistors and capacitors to solder in-line. Who wants to deal with that?? Admittedly Axxess comes with 1 resistor needed for programming certain Kenwood models (I didn’t need it with my Kenwood)

Axxess has non-volatile memory- meaning that in a few years when you change your car battery you will not have to also dig behind you dashboard to find the unit and program it.

Axxess has an auto-programming feature- this worked great once I had the wiring correct. Saves time. The programming with the PAC actually takes a little practice to get the sequences and timing correct for pushing all the buttons.

COMPARING SPEED- tie. I’ve seen posts on one vs. the other in speed. I had volume working on the PAC. I didn’t time it, but both seemed to increase or decrease volume at the same rate. Non-noticable / negligible difference.
GaleForce, Smashley and MinusK like this.

I have a deck with two key input wires that auto detects the different resistances of the keys - are resistors really necessary?
