Gauge Backlight Question
So I am new here to the forums, been using all of the great posts, and DIY info to plan my audio system. I had it installed this week by a good friend who owns a stereo shop. He has done a number of installs for me before, and I have always been happy, so it worked out well. (Special thanks to the forum members for the window reset info.)
My question, and I feel really stupid for asking, relates to the dash illumination. I drove the car at night today for the first time since the system install. I noticed the gauges appeared to be illuminated even before I turned on the headlights. Once I turned on the headlights, nothing changed. They didn't get brighter or dim, just stayed on. When I got home and turned off the headlights, the gauges remained illuminated. Once I turned off the car, they went off. Now I have only had the car about 5 weeks, and only driven it about 3-4 times at night, so I can't recall if this is normal? I never really paid attention before, and now I can't recall what is "normal." If this is not normal, has anyone experienced this after an audio install? Solution? FYI I googled this 27 different ways and did not find any info, so maybe I am just a bit lame, but you know how it is, just a bit new car nervous. |

LED illumination is always active regardless of the headlights. In regards to dimming, turn on your headlights, and press the dimmer increment and decrement buttons. Dimming is only active when the headlights are on.

Thanks, I understand the dimming. I didn't realize there was some form of illumination regardless of the headlight position. (On or Off) I never noticed this before, which is why I found it odd. For some reason, I recalled the gauge illumination changing when the lights were turned on and off, but I must be remembering it incorrectly.
