Bazooka

Not looking for something loud but something thumb alil, 10' Bazooka, 250 watts sound ok?

bigaudiofanat 07-17-2011 03:44 PM

Bazooka is sort of at the real low end of bass. Nothing really tight or clear going to come from one. If you are looking for a little bit of CLEAR bass that actually sounds like drums or notes. Look at a stealth sub like from kenwood or alpine, maybe even a set of upgraded speakers and a amp would give you the bass you are looking for.

Rhinetom 07-21-2011 01:58 PM

NoZooka!

Please look at my setup. Very happy, I could not stand anything louder.

chuckd05 07-21-2011 02:46 PM

I have a 6.5 250watt amplified bass tube. Just installed it and I'm gonna do a write up on it soon.

Zero vibrations, not loud out of the car, but it fulfills exactly what I was missing. I'm satisfied and it stows away in the compartment under trunk carpet above the spare. Looks oem.

Good on ya!

Get the setup that makes you happy. Don't be swayed by the high rollers here.

:iagree:

Alot of people on this board have the disposable income and are giving you the best suggestions that can(meaning best audio, ect).

Im currently determining a budget audio upgrade since there are other things id like to spend my $$ on.

If you think a powered bazooka tube would suit your needs, then by all means dont let us stop you. Big is right, it will not be very clean, but it will still have bass. just muttled.

Rhinetom looks like he has a nice easy setup.

do you have stock speakers? base or bose?

chuckd05 07-22-2011 02:05 PM

I simply love the bazooka for the fact it weighs 14 lbs and can be placed out of site without losing an inch of cargo space for $198 shipped.

It isn't the cleanest but it's just fine. A little more bass than stock
Bose systems but nothing close to anything that you will feel a block
Away.

I'd say go for it.

Yep or even a pioneer or kenwood 8, would average to about the same price maybe a bit more. But :iagree:

I have a amplified 200W Bazooka 8" bass tube (BTA8200) and it's by far nothing fancy but does the job very well. It sits nicely in the back and it's right behind the passenger seat so I hear it clearly. It's perfect, simple, and I don't need anything more. It compliments the stock speakers very well. Also, I like how I can remove it when I need to for a tad extra space in the back for stuff. What Chuckd05 said is pretty much how I feel too.

Wondering if you could please post a pic of the tube installed

Master_Ly 07-23-2011 09:12 PM

Oh, here is my install. As you can see it's out in the open but I wanted it that way so I can remove it at my convenience.

Excuse the grossness of my hatch, I play A LOT of softball and the hatch shows it, lol... But here is the 6.5 250 watt Bazooka Tube Stowed away, Big thanks to Mike the powdercoater for the idea! I have to take the left foam piece out and re arrange the wire as the foam sticks up about 2cm but its nothing worth fixing immediatly... Also the extra RCA you see is for an amp of my interior speakers that I will hook up eventually.. Ran a distribution block and extra RCA so its ready to go... I am thinking of putting the AMP in the rear passenger corner of the hatch... I notched out some of the foam part oposite where the jack is held already and I store Quick Detail Spray and Microfiber towels in there... I put my amp there and I was able to slide the foam back in and the amp can be stowed in the rear corber there, I am just worrying about the heat of the amp next to the foam.. My goal was to lose NO space at all while adding bass and keeping my spare.

And I used an Rockford 8 gauge wire kit and ran it through the pre drilled hole on drivers side under dash and through the center console... You can snake the wire right behind the engine firewall where other lines are and through the small little hole under the clutch fluid assembly.. Automatics have much easier access to this hole. Worked out great..

^Nice job!

How's the bass output from the 6.25? I used to run an 8 like 15 years ago :icon17:

gr8-wrx 07-24-2011 08:12 AM

Thanks for the pics!

So stealthy, I like it! Disco Stu doesn't advertise! :)

chuckd05 07-24-2011 08:15 AM

It's pretty good as far as output goes. Again nothing crazy but you def know I have a sub.
Perfect for the Z imo

yeah, as long as you aren't an audio snob and just want some nicer bass and fuller sound, this is the best option, imo, since it doesn't affect space in the car whatsoever.
