Question Hertz Audio HSK 165?

I'm researching the best speakers to use for to replace my nismo speakers when I came across the Italian brand Hertz Audio's model HSK 165. The latest generation of them are quite well reviewed, and I've actually heard them in person at a local audio shop and they sound great. I think they can handle around 125 w rms. Granted, I am not an audiophile; although I do love music and good sound, I wouldn't say I could tell the difference between 2 different expensive sets of speakers.

This is for the door 6.5" speakers that will be run by an amp probably pushing ~75-100 rms to each speaker. My price range would be $300 - $500 for a set of good 2 way speakers.

Anyways, question is have you ever heard of these speakers, know of a good online place to order them, or do you have any alternative speaker choices that you would recommend that perform well and are around the same price.

heard of them, if you like the sound and the price is right just get them from your local audio shop.

Yeah I like the sound and would buy from the shop, but they're around $450 (towards top end of my budget) so I just wanted to see if there were other speakers that were very well known around that price. Also on other audio forums I've read some people picking them up online for like $300...but the only ones under $400 I've seen were either the 1st gen. or from Malaysia (not real).

Any info regarding Hertz in general would also be very much appreciated

As long as you are going to amp them they will sound great. Image dynamics and focal come to mind if you want to look at something else along with MB quarts.

I'm sure you can get a deal at the shop, have you talked to them?
You could also check out Focal, MTX, Boston Acoustics.

Woofersetc.com the online car audio super store, the largest selection at the lowest prices! has some pretty good deals sometimes and carries some highend stuff. I have an image dynamics 12 sub that I like. All the reviews I have read on the ID component speakers are they sound great and have loads of midbass. I haven't read any negative reviews on hertz. Focal is another. Some don't care them because they tend to be a little bright (sharp treble). I have a 3 way component set of CDT's. They are the HD series and are power hungry. Sound really clear but not as loud as I thought they would get for having 220 rms/side. It maybe that without the distortion you don't notice just how loud it is.

Thanks for the advise. This will definitely help me on my speaker hunt

I might have to research those ID components because I love midbass

Picked up a set of Hertz Mille MLK components from a vendor from the phillipines (actually recieved the product as advertised for $350). The speakers have broken in at this point and sound great. The Focals are also highly recommended. Have heard them in person and I agree that when first installed the highs are a bit too bright and harsh, but after about 40 hours (typical break-in) they sound great. I actually like the Focal KRX2 more than the Mille, but the $500 price difference online was too good to pass up.

Hertz Audio hsk165 is a great choice. We sell and install a lot of them.
We have done them in the 370z with great results.

Call me if you would like a set.

I assume you're running passive rather than active--if you aren't familiar with the term, you're passive. And assuming so, that's one of several good options in that $250-500-ish price range. You should be able to pick up a legit set for well under 450 online though.

DIYMA.com - Scientific Car Audio - Truth in Sound Quality is a good forum for car audio speakers, and you can just search for HSK reviews. Or research for a price point and recommendations. Google it as "site: diymobileaudio.com" (or "inurl:") and you can include "350..500" as a search term so it googles for any number on or between that range.

Here's one comparison thread I got from a really quick search: Hertz HSK 165.4 vs. Massive Audio Ck6 vs A/D/S 346cs review - DIYMA.com - Scientific Car Audio - Truth in Sound Quality
