15A Add a Circuit
I am going to be hardwiring in my V1 and want to tap into the fuse for the cig lighter to do so, which is 15A. All I can find are the 10A add a circuit parts.
Has anyone just replaced the fuses in the 10A part with 15A fuses and had this work? It seems like it might be a bad idea... |
Doesn't the v1 come with a fuse built into the wire? If not there are mini fuse holders and fuses you can find at your local auto part store.
|
just use a 10A. the housing for the add-a-circuit can melt if 15A. unless you're giong to be running a high powered vac from your cig lighter 10A is more than plenty.
also remember that radar detectors only pull like 1A. you can just solder a fuse in-line and tap directly into a switched 12v. :) |
out of the fuse box, which is the best 10A that turns off with the car and turns back on when you start the car? I have the same add-a-fuse issue. I'll be hardwiring next Tuesday when my blendmount comes for V1

Just use the wires behind the 12 volt plug on the passenger side. A lot easier than going behind a fuse box.
|
yah, i completely removed that useless cig lighter on the passenger side and using it as my power source for several things.
|
If they are small enough you could add a 1amp radar detector.
|
I only wanted to go that route because I have the wiring from my old car, easier to pull out when uninstalling also.
