Axxess ASWC Question

Hi!

I just finished installing my Pioneer AVH-P4300DVD headunit with the Axxess ASWC module. I followed the sticky on the forum to manually program the Axxess and everything is working fine except for the up and down rocker on the steering wheel.

My question is it possible to set 2 functions into a single button on the steering wheel? The problem I'm having is when I'm in ipod/CD mode, the up and down rocker on the steering wheel works fine to switch tracks. But when I'm in radio mode, the up and down rocker does not scroll through my presets. It just tunes the radio.

Is there something I can do to make it work as intended or is this a design flaw with the Axxess module?

Thanks in advance!

It has to do with how your have your radio set. On my Kenwood there are three different scan functions. One manually tunes stations. One scans to the next station. The last one scans the presets that you have created.

I'm going to guess and say that your Pioneer has something similar. Set the HU to scan presets and you'll be in good shape. It sounds like your AXXESS is hooked up fine.

The button on the steering wheel is basically an "up-and-down" button. Either up-and-down tracks on a iPod or CD, etc. Or up-and-down scanning.

Yes the setup is fine and I agree something with the pioneer or how you dedicated the buttons to what function.

Yeah, I tried programming it the other way. Having the rocker scroll my radio preset. When I did that, it wouldn't track up or down anymore when listening to CD or iPod.

That's odd. Should be a separate function. On my Kenwood, one setup will not effect the other.

I agree with above. It's your radio, not the module.

Oh well. Thanks for all the help guys!

I just used another member's suggestion and programmed the 'source' button to preset up.

I'm pretty sure you can't program one steering wheel control to do two functions. I was in the same boat with my JVC install. But I never go "backwards" when listening to songs or the radio. So I programed my back toggle to go forwad though my radio station list. So up skips songs and tunes the radio depending on mode. Down skips preset radio station. Can be confusing if someone else is driving my car ... but why would I care? ;) If I need the back functions, I use the head unit. Just another suggestion.

Actually, you can. You don't program the Axxess, it's just how the setup is on your HU.
Mine goes forward and back on my iPod, jumps presets on my FM tuner and skips forward when streaming Pandora or Slacker (won't go back because those programs won't let you go back). If I had XM, it would also control that.

I'll check the manual again. I didn't see any settings that I can change to fix that on my Pioneer headunit.

I do not think that is something that your going to be able to change. Just the build of the company.

Yeah, seems like it. -1 for Pioneer

But other then that, the HU fits perfect. Sit flush with the panel.
