Kenwood dnx 5120
Does anyone have this headunit
Does it really have the built in, nothing else needed Nav capabilities. Opinions please???? Thanks. |
DNX5120 has built in nav only. BT has to be added. Only 2 RCA pre-outs also. Just put one in a 350Z today!

most units have three. one for front speakers one for rear and one for subs.
|
No need for rear speakers. Front speakers and subs is all you need in a good system. :)

Check out the DNX-5140, the replacement model.

What is the biggest difference other than a newer model. I see it has Voice commands...does the 5120 not have this???? I notice re-charge on the IPOD. I am ready...juts trying to pull the trigger on something, that doesn't require an arm and a leg. Also what does "motorized face mean" |
That is true that you only need front and subs.... but will the headunit be set up to pre out in that way or will it be just front and rear, I am not sure. The differences that I am aware of from the more expensive units are that there is a higher voltage for the pre outs, and tuning options.

I really leaning towards the 5120 and put the difference in cash towards an even better Focal door speaker. What do you think? |
With speakers, it's all about how well it gets installed (easy part) and then tuning them. I managed to do pretty well with 3-band EQ. The front speakers were Boston Acoustics and the rear were MB Quart reference. They're not pricey speakers, but sounded pretty good with the EQ settings I had. It's no high end system.
Get what you like between the two. If you want better speakers, get them or you won't be happy. I think my Diamond HEX components are worth around $250 now. That's my budget for speakers. |

I picked up my brand new DNX-5140 on ebay from a highly recommended vendor for $665 shipped. Well worth it.
