Looks good.

I will also be in the market for a nice LCD-display unit. I'm in the same boat...I don't need GPS navigation, because frankly, I know my way around the Bay Area very well and I have an iPhone. The main factors for me include rear-view camera support and DVD playback.

thanks JoeD. yah, i think the backup camera would be a nice option if you drive your car as a dd too.

my car only stops at the gas station so i passed on the camera. i'll be doing all the maintenance on the car so unless there's some major recall or warranty repair or something, my Z will never see the dealer or any parking lot for that matter.

Most will support or have both or theose features. As for the nav you will just have to see which ones have it or can bee added on with it. Everyone is enjoying th kenwood 6140 and it a great unit.

yah, but a more compariable kenwood model to the 3100 is the DDX514. still $100 more though and the USB input is on the back which wasn't going to work for me.

the criteria for me was:

no nav, non-motorized face, USB port on the front, parametric EQ, plays DVDR, mp3, wma, etc., expandable as needed, easy to use, red key color, and steering wheel controllable through a readily available interface. the pioneer fits all those critierias...and the price point was right.

i have nothing against kenwoods. i like them.

<updated>here's with the stubby USB drive.
my hand has not accidentally touched it while shifting so it's a
good size.

One thing to note on the install... I'm sure you guys already know, but the blue wire from the antenna adapter needs to hook up to a switched 12v (such as the blue/white wire off the pioneer's remote turn on with the female spade connector).

It does not get hooked up to the scoche harness's blue wire.

i was never a big fan of the harness dangling inside the cubby (one of my other car's stereo is like that) so this is why i wanted one in the front. also easy access to swap.

the one im currently using is small enough (i never hit it while shifting) but man, wish
i would've known about that super small one!

guess i'll get one for my synths in the music room.

You know if you were a good boy. Santa might put one in your stockings. But you still have to be good for the rest of the year. LOL

I´ve had two previous Pioneer video systems and never had issues. I would buy again. Also, not sure what problems others are having with watching videos, but all I did was ground the one wire that is supposed to go to the e'brake.

Yep, no issues on mine either so far. . My unit's ebrake line is also grounded but the system shows a warning screen when I run a DVD or switch to aux (not usb/ipod) so I wiredup a normally closed momentary sw. I just hit that and hit "ok" on the screen and it starts.

I own both Pioneer and Kenwood HU’s and both are “great”………..I prefer the Pioneer for the video and especially for the Nav, which has the Tele Atlas Maps. I might be a little bias since Tele Atlas was born right here in New Haven, CT in 1967 by Don Cooke. In 1985, Tele Atlas built the Navigator, the world’s first functional, in-vehicle navigation system. Anyone who owns a TomTom would agree that it’s a great system.
