JVC HU & Speakers

Hello,

I am new to this audio upgrade area and have some basic questions:
1. Would replacing the HU & Speakers void any warranties on the car?
2. Interested in a simple unit with clean sound and HD-Radio capability (not bone shaking bass). Found JVC KW-HDR720 with built-in HD-Radio tuner and JVC CS-V607 component speakers.
(i) Will the HU function with steering wheel controls ?
(ii) Is the stock antenna good for HD-Radio reception as well ?
(iii) JVC lists the CS-V607 as 6-1/2" with a mounting depth of 2-1/4"; can these be installed without cutting anything ?
(iv) Any ideas about the installation cost for a simple setup in the Bay Area ?

Thanks in advance

I would stay away from JVC speakers other than than you should be ok with what you choose. Ask your dealer if you are worried about warranty usually it is not a problem. Never tried HD radio always been a Sirius guy so not sure about the antenna should be ok. For a head unit and component speakers usually around 200. For speakers look at the pol db's lots of people here are happy with them and I recommend them for tired fit with no spacers needed. I do recommend running new speaker wire from the new head unit to the crossover that comes with the speakers and to the woofers and tweeters as well.

1. Would replacing the HU & Speakers void any warranties on the car? Shouldn't, well other then the radio warranty, but the JVC has warranty, so...

2. Interested in a simple unit with clean sound and HD-Radio capability (not bone shaking bass). Found JVC KW-HDR720 with built-in HD-Radio tuner and JVC CS-V607 component speakers. Same as Big on this one HU are good value, speakers, not so much
(i) Will the HU function with steering wheel controls ? Yes you need an addaptor though
(ii) Is the stock antenna good for HD-Radio reception as well ? Not sure we don't really have it in Canada
(iii) JVC lists the CS-V607 as 6-1/2" with a mounting depth of 2-1/4"; can these be installed without cutting anything ? should be ok, you may need to add a spacer ring depend on what was in there stock, but no cutting either way of the car

(iv) Any ideas about the installation cost for a simple setup in the Bay Area ? yeah 200-250 depending
