Default Thoroughly Disappointed

I went to best buy to pick up a nav unit. Spoke to a salesman who seemed knowledgable and ended up going with a dnx1250 or something, its a kenwood that he assured me was iphone compatible. With install i ended up spending close to $1000. When i scheduled my install i asked the guy to unhook the e-brake from the unit so i could have dvd playing while driving because my girlfriend and I take a lot of long journeys and she likes watching films. Anyway i know its against their policy but i thought i'd take a shot, he said he'd do it no problem and also said he'd hook up the bluetooth that was promised to me by the salesman where i wanted it, and additionally said he'd hook it up to the steering column so I could have the controls. So i pay around 300 for install and come to pick it up.

Apparently the unit in fact did not have bluetooth, was not iphone compatible, he didnt hook up the steering wheel and didnt disconnect the e brake. So i then had a 6 hr drive directly from best buy to chicago with no music because i didnt think id need cd's. and i wasnt gunna drive with the e-brake on for dvd.

So i call best buy and complain and the manager promised me a new pioneer F900 which is more expensive for free, and a free switch out. I'll just take it to get installed somewhere else because that frankly is some of the worst service i've had.

Sorry to hear that your best bet is to go through a indpendent car audio place. The big companies probably wont do it. i.e. best buy.

when you said 'Best Buy', i knew it was going to be trouble. If you are doing an audio install, always do your research at home first, because I can guarantee with 100% certainty that big name installers like Best Buy and Frys know absolutely nothing, even less so with a new car like the 370z. I took mine to a professional installer (car audio heaven) and it cost about the same as your 'worst buy' install.

As for the head unit, Kenwood is a better unit than the F900BT IMHO. I got the eclipse AVN 4430. it has built in bluetooth, removable GPS unit, and for 35 bucks more you can get the ipod cable.

Sorry to hear about your issues with BB but the DNX5120 is a good unit for the money and is IPHONE compatible if you use the right cables and have the correct software updates. I'm gonna do a big post tomorrow on a REALLY nice system we just did in a 370 for a forum member on here! That shows the DNX8120 in action.
