S-mode switch.(s-for speak not sport)
2 Attachment(s)
HI,
I purchased a s-mode switch. I plan to use this with my nav for the voice activation. I have a kenwood 9960; the voice activation switch has 2 wires... the s-mode has 4 ping's that stick out from the bottom of it... Is there a place where I can buy a wire harness that goes into the S-mode switch... and then from that which 2 pins would I use to connect to the wire from the voice activation switch of the kenwood 9960? I have moved my hazard light switch on the right side where the dummy was... now the dummy is out of the car and the S-mode is waiting to go in... just this s-mode will be S- for Speak instead of sport. please advise. Thanks, jay |
Hey. I never answered you on this. Doh! Sorry.
If it were me, I'd just cut off the plug and solder the appropriate wires together. A whole lot cheaper that way. |
Sorry what exactly do you mean when you say solder appropriate wire....... which ones would those be......
Thanks, Jay |

My guess is 2 of the remaining 4 are ground and illumination?
|
Would it be the same as this?

Easier or the way I do it is use a volt meter and test using a small amount of current when it beeps you know you have the correct two than push the button on to see if that stops the voltage from going threw.

never used a volt meter... for doing this...
any more help on what setting I should use? and what results I should see? Thanks, |
i tried to do a continuity test... but I am not able to determine anything from it...
any one feels like helping me here? |
OK it will be trial and error today! But I will use the below as a key:
1st lead = grd 2nd lead = power out 3rd lead = power in (BCM) 4th lead = illumination of switch I am not going to bother with the illumination for now... but do I need to connect pin to ground? Thanks! |
need help
HI,
So I tried to use pin's 2 and 3 on the Sport mode switch... but they dont work... I did not get to test and other pairs... Anyone have suggestions for me ? Here's what I did 1. Splice the kenwood 9960's voice activation switch it has 2 wires... 2. soldered 4 wires to the 4 pins on the S-mode switch... Then followed the wiring from http://www.the370z.com/exterior-inte...g-diagram.html and tried to connect wire 1 and wire2 from the voice activation switch to pins 2 and 3 on the S-mode switch and swapped them... powered on the nav.. tried to push the S-mode button and dont get anything... Please help. Thanks |
