The position of aftermarket navs was also a concern to me. I don't find it safe having to look down to view the map.

Anything else that an after market DDin would do better than the stock OEM nav? can you BT music from an iphone or would you have to USB it?
Yes schoche makes an adapter if you want to add a aftermarket head unit to the bose system.

Yes re-q qould allow you to add new amps to power new sepakers if you wanted however you will not be able to use the bose system to power new speakers as bose has strange OHMS for their speakers.

Lots of people were concerned about looking down to see a map however with voice directions they really do not look down "this includes AK"

once you have the stock NAV it's expensive if you decide to change it out, you can't just change the radio part.

I would NOT get, nor did i get factory NAV, for a few reasons, i don't need it, i knew i was changing out the HU, and i plan on keeping this car, if that system ever dies off warranty it's going to be a lot more then 2k to replace it...

If it's short term and you like the look of the factory NAV get it, you can add amps speaker and sub to it with a ReQ as mentioned, or a few different peices from Audio Control, they have a new peice coming out next month that is pretty slick, and not much money.

The 2010 and newer stock Nav units include bluetooth streaming music.

And I have an extended warranty on my car to cover more than just Nav

I was in a 2006 Z51 vette with nav and got the 09 370 with nav next. The Z nav is 300% better than the vettes and also has XM traffic bundled in to it (subscription). I live and travel in the SE US quite a bit and have found the nav to be very accurate.

As far as some saying "dont get the nav get after market".....you can say that about any part on the car. Aftermarket WILL NEVER look as good as the OEM nav unit and doesnt really offer anything additional that I want or need. I find the Bose to be good enough as I am well beyond my loud stereo days.

No glaring issues on the nav unit. It really comes down to what you want in the car and how much you want to spend.

OEM Nav is the way to go. It simply makes the interior of the car look beautiful and very classy.

I agree, not only is the system great, but the interior is improved greatly with it in place.

+1

I had an '07 350Z w/o nav, and just never found the storage box to be useful or aesthetically pleasing. My new 370Z has Nav. and I just LOVE the way it looks. The integration is excellent. Not just in looks, but in how it is integrated into the electronics of the car. You can control it with the buttons on the unit, touch screen, controls on the steering wheel or voice. Plus bluetooth, 9.3G music box, USB, RCA, DVD, B/U camera, etc....I just wasn't going to get a new Z without it. I used to be an aftermarket only kinda guy, but you can't beat this navigation system.

I just can not see how anyone can say the stock system is "great" some may find it fine but a LOT regret it after the sign the papers. Just an after thought perhaps.

I'm not an audiophile so sound isn't as important, but I like the integration of the OEM nav system.

Exactly, the sound is just fine, I don't need an over-the-top system. As far as I am concerned you can't beat the integration of the OEM over aftermarket.

there are ppl with the stock HU doing VERY well at world finals sound events, it's all about what you do with the signal. I little EQ'ing can go a long way.

Not when the bose systems omit things before they reach the speakers to begin with.
