AM/FM bad reception
Guys I need help.
I got JVC KW-XR610 unit in my care and the FM/AM reception is pretty bad. I did not install the radio so I"m not sure what the deal is but i took the unit out and checked the antenna and the blue cable that powers the antenna's amplifier, all seems to be in the right place. everything else works just fine Any ideas ?? |

if you begin to station search, does the radio pick up the stations perfectly??? For example, you went to your favorite radio station and the radio was able to search for it without skipping it. If it skips the station then something is wrong with your antenna or they didn't install the power antenna harness correctly "that's an additional piece you buy for $10-$15 to make aftermarket radios work with your antenna". If the station picks up but sounds like crap then your am/fm modulator might be bad. I bought a 2008 Nissan xterra and the CD player and AM stations worked perfectly...but FM, nothing except a little bit of sound at full volume. Replaced radio and worked.

Radio skips the stations and i can find only one or two stations on FM. However the one i can find sounds pretty good. As far as the blue cable goes, it's connected to the blue wire from the harness coming from the car. Perhaps it's cut somewhere.

and the antenna is plugged into the back of the radio harness, right?\
ALSO: Noticed you mentioned that somebody else did the install. Was it a shop? if so, I would have them fix it.

Yap all that is good and in the right place
I download the User Manual and installation instructions for the radio and all seems to be in the right pace. I think the issues is with the blue cable, it may be cut or not hooked up on the other end. |

My car had subwoofer installed and when i got the car they took it out and left bunch of crap in the trunk. All the cables were just sitting in the trunk with open ends including the Red Power cable that runs from the batter Perhaps one of the wires blew up the fuse or something

sonic- you need to wire that antenna blue wire to either to your remote blue/white wire or to a switched 12v. your antenna module is not getting power, that's all.
i had the same issue when i installed my pioneer a while ago. |
