What the installers did was fine, the req and jl get the amped signal and than clean it. If everything was tuned properly nothing should go bad in a year.

What the installers did was fine, the req and jl get the amped signal and than clean it. If everything was tuned properly nothing should go bad in a year. Yes you will not need a new harness but you will have to tap into the wires coming out of the stereo amp and run them to the jl and also have the req for the sub. The JL is the same as the req but for the speakers.
