Interesting Issue after an install
Anyone have an issue with the feature that opens your window when you open the door and then closes it when you close the door? I had the AVIC-F90BT installed yesterday and before I could play with everything the shop closed. Well now my Service Engine Soon light came on but the tech insists he didn't disconnect anything, Dealership is looking at that in the morning. Onto the interesting thing. The window opens that 1/2" or whatever when you open the door. It however does not go back up when you shut the door. If you open and close the door a few times it opens the window that 1/2" or so each time so after a few cycles the window is open like halfway. Anyone know of anything that might cause this issue in specific. I mean more in depth of an answer then "the tech did something wrong" would be nice.

You can confirm battery cable was disconnected to cause this by also checking the service mileages in the little display on the right. It tracks mileage for changing your oil, air filter, etc, etc. They all get reset to zero when the battery is disconnected as well. As for your SES light: I don't know. Disconnecting the battery shouldn't cause a SES light. It would be a good idea to hook up an OBD-II scanner and read what code corresponds with the light first. If the install guys claim they never pulled the battery cable, and we're seeing both a SES light and indications of memory loss, it could be that they did something wrong with the wiring to short out or otherwise drain your battery, and this is all from low voltage. |

So cost me 1/2 hour of "labor" to clear the light and determine why it had come in.
The SES light came in because if you disconnect any connectors, in this case is was the heat and AC connectors, and turn the car on the computer can't communicate with those controls and therefore gets confused. Since it can't communicate it throws the SES light. Therefore I recommend if you have your HU replaced you do it yourself or ensure the person doing it does not turn the car ON without all connectors connected. Cost me $52 for this lesson. Now to try and get that out of the install place that did my speakers and HU. Speaking of which I will post some pics soon of the install. Got a real nice Ipod mount that looks slick and clean. |

Not sure. Car only had <500 miles on it so I was babying it. I just wanted to make sure wasn't a bad sansor or anything. I would assume that the code reader most people have would be able to read and clear the issue. I did get a detailed printout of what the issue was. So now I can potentially save other members of these forums the same headache and $.

Or instead of clearing the SES blindly via the pedal method or disconnecting the battery, you guys could pick yourself up a handy-dandy OBD-II tool at any auto parts store and actually read the codes to know what they are yourself, and then clear them via the tool as well.

I also have the AVIC F90 BT, and have had the same exact problem with my windows since install. I'm heading out to my car to try that "reset" procedure right now...
***EDIT - Window resetting procedure worked like a charm. Thanks Wstar! +1 Rep
