Short answer. Yes. If you have it hardwired so that it is on all of the time, then it will shorten the camera life.
This is wrong on any relevant scale. The electrical lifespan of these cameras is not a factor here. Would you worry about the sensor in your home video camera burning out? Not in your own lifetime.
