hort answer. Yes. If you have it hardwired so that it is on all of the time, then it will shorten the camera life. If you have a HU, like the Kenwood DNX9960, which allows you to turn the camera on and off, it works very well.

The image is like any other digital camera of that resolution. When you're moving, you really can't tell what you're looking at anyway because of the speed.
The image is pretty good, it's just that everyything is flying by quite rapidly.
