Navigation update.

How much is an update for the navigation supposed to be?

my dealership says its probably going to be around 400ish bucks. :ugh2:

update from 2009 maps to 2011.

I wish there were more....cheap ways of getting it :roflpuke2:since 400 bucks for a update is a shitload of money.

First you have to buy an update code from NavTeq:
NAVTEQ - Maps for your Nissan Navigation System

Then you have to pay the dealer about $200 to install it.

Yeah, it is definitely ridiculous in today's world, but then again so is the Nav option original price.

The dealer told me I don't need to buy anything just pay $100 to have it updated.

I think your dealer was right. It costs $149 for the map update. My dealer wanted $106 to install the update for what will probably be an hours work at most. $106/hour?! I think there are doctors quitting their jobs to become Nissan mechanics.

If you must update I'd suggest waiting for the 2012 update. It wouldn't surprise me if it was released around October. You'd atleast get another year for your money.

You need the dealer to update it? Don't you just follow the provided instructions slide the new DVD into the NavROM unit under the passenger seat (haven't poked my head under there yet)? It was that simple for my FX45.

Unfortunately yes. They "updated" the system from being dvd based to being hard drive based.:shakes head:

I can hardly rip out the entire navigation unit. :icon14:

That is just a crime. I got that it costs $149 for the maps. I've seen prices for others costing $80 to $100. So an extra $50 because it's for the OEM fine. But then to require that only a dealer can install it for $100 to $200 is just a crime

got a update from the dealership.

the update will be 250 bucks. they didn't mention installation or stuff so I think them doing the update is free.

You can update it yourself on the 2010-2011 models, but not the 2009... it has to be updated by the dealer according to the zenrin.com folks. Just my frickin luck!
