Pioneer Avic-x930BT

Just bought this HU for my 2010 Z sport model. Anybody have experience with it? I originally wanted to go with kenwood series because of the Garmin nav feature but tested it out and found it a bit laggy and the interface seemed tacky. the 920BT on display at cartoys was smooth and I really liked the interace. the 930BT is the newest model from pioneer and the price was right so I jumped. Any input is appreciated.

I had the 920BT installed last week by Car Toys. I read people complaining that it took a long time to load up, but that's really not a practical issue. It loads up completely in 30 seconds. The UI is quick to respond with no lag issues. The bluetooth is clear. I love it, personally.

Did you need the face plate or did it look okay without it?

dAvenue 04-11-2011 08:07 PM

The faceplate was not used and not needed. It looks good.

good to know!

Very interested in this headunit. Want to know if it has any issues with android handsets, especially in regard to audio streaming, though. Seems a little too early to tell for sure.

+1 on this info. anyone else with x930bt can comment on it?

The 920 has been great all around. GPS is a little quirky but everything works fine. I have had no trouble linking my HTC Thunderbolt. Looking and waiting for info on the software upgrade from the 930.

i love everything about my x920bt except the blue tooth, which with my iphone does not work well... maybe its my exhaust and mic placement (on top of driver side pillar) ??? but its not really clear to the person on the other end...

streaming blue tooth audio works perfectly and it can even skip tracks through bluetooth on my iphone... with pandora and the music section of the phone...

nav works great, and all the functions are quick ... pretty much all i could ask for out of a HU , its just too bad the blue tooth is sub par with the Iphone.. other phones seem better, which is odd

@chuckd05: Fortunately, I haven't experienced any issues with Bluetooth and iPhone on the 120BT; grant it, I still use a 3GS. My mic is mounted on the driver's side pillar, too. Phone calls are crystal clear.

Which model of iPhone do you have? I know the iPhone 4 batches were peppered with issues. My wife's first 4 model had a terrible antenna; it dropped calls like crazy. We bought her a new one ~5 weeks after, and it's had no problems at all.

If I were a betting man (which I am), I would put my money on your particular iPhone's hardware as the culprit especially when the other phones work without a hitch. It could be worth your while to do a quick trip to the Apple store and ask the geek-a-zoids to reset your phone. Their method of resetting the iPhone is a little different than what we can do at home, ourselves. If it doesn't work, at least you tried, right? :ugh2:

As mentioned earlier, only flaw is it takes like 15secs to load and after that lag free. I dont have frame for it but it is fine as it is.

cheshirecat 04-22-2011 09:26 AM

As long as it's lag-free once it loads, I would say that's the most important. I'd rather it take longer to boot up and be perfect after that than have a quick bootup and deal with any lag.

Just installed mine, using with Bose amp and speakers hissing sound is killing me, about to get rid of pioneer forever so tired of these aftermarket issues, any suggestions? Thank you all.

HITEKG8 04-24-2011 01:05 AM

BTW, the unit I installed in the AVIC-X930BT hissing is killing me.
Don't know what to do.

n370zpg, if you dont mind me asking, how much did they charge? I'm about to get the same headunit and I'm debating if its worth installing myself.

Not sure what the hissing noise may be...ground wiring problems perhaps?

I had a local guy install my whole set up for $320 (head unit, components, amp + wiring, subwoofer). Great dude, did a fantastic job and couldn't be more happy. Other shops like car toys were asking for $1000+ total BS.

Overall I'm finding the pioneer 930bt to be excellent. the start-up takes about 10-15 seconds to load up, no lag between sources and the navigation is spot on. my apartment complex is brand new and doesn't show up on most gps/navs but loaded it with no problems. i have an iphone4 and the bluetooth works very well (connects 5 seconds after the 15 second load and dials/receives calls flawlessly). songs from my iphone load up quickly and the pandora app works great. my girl loves the look, especially the orange-red color theme match. the only complaint i have is the screen is a bit on the bright side especially at night and I cant seem to adjust the brightness.

install

MY brother in law did the install he has an audio place, the install is pretty simple make aurw you purchase a differential converter , this will eliminate the hiss sound. I'm in the car business Welcome To Autotoys.Com - Online Car Stereo, Ipod Adapters And Accessories *- Autotoys has the best prices in the nation and they deliver this particular unit anywhere. Mind you I have a 2010 sports touring with Bose , the hissing is due to the Bose amp, hence the Differential converter.

You're supposed to use a PAC adapter to match up your head unit's output to the output required for the Bose system.

Glad to hear you got it figured out.
