Here of some pictures of the camera. The first is a shot from underneath showing the camera replacing the right license plate illuminator.
The second is a closeup from the rear. The third is a shot from the back, and the forth is a picture of the license plate illuminator that it replaces. You can see the clips on this piece are identical to the camera, so it's easy to replace. No hole had to be drilled in the car as the camera wires can enter thje trunk area from pre-existing channels in the frame. Hope this clarifies your questions.....
The weather here in Canada is presently cold and snowy, so I'm not going to put in my Kenwood 9960 until it warms up a bit. I don't want to snap any cold plastic pieces. I did try the camera in the house, and the automatic aperature worked fine, but in very low light, the picture was grainy, but still better than the $80 Boyo license plate camera I had purchased earlier. For $18 delivered, in my opinion, it's a no brainer.
It is a straight CMOS camera with some blue grid lines as well as some numbers from 10-50, in increments of 10....It probably just gives an idea of how close an object is, and not absolute distances. It's not controllable like the Kenwood CMOS300 which is a $300 US camera. (for the fellow that asked).

Here is a link for the one I purchased. Works great. Is quite similar and does illuminate ok at night with the rear lights and what not. Looks great during the day. Mine was missing the power line but I just cut the connector off and soldered leads on anyway.

Hey Svre46
I looked at your unit as well but chose mine for a couple or reasons. I wasn't sure if it would fit so went for a cheaper unit, and the one I got was completely clear on one side, so I thought it might do a better job of illuminating the license plate. After installing mine, I think we could assume any of these cameras made for the Nissan Livina will fit our 370Zs. If one of these vendors made a CCD version, it would probably be a better unit. I haven't found any though.
Having said that, I'm happy with what I have, as it's only for seeing where the heck you are going when backing up. Without the camera, your are really in the dark!

Mine actually looks identical to yours from the outside. I just snapped some pics sorry if they are a bit dark. Before I ordered mine I took a micrometer to measure my light just to be sure. The ones they sell online for the “370z” seemed to be sold for a premium. I decided there had to be other Nissan models with the same size light. I don’t think I could be much happier with the end result. It works as good as some other "quality" cameras and has the OEM look to it.

This one claims to be CCD and the housing looks to be the same.
CCD Auto Camera for Nissan Livina/Geniss/GT-R products, buy CCD Auto Camera for Nissan Livina/Geniss/GT-R products from alibaba.com

Strait from China, they are selling in quantities of 100+. This might be an opportunity for a forum sponsor to retail for the Zs. At $30 plus shipping you could fill a niche and make a profit. Hint hint.

Here's a whole list of similar cameras. Some CCD, some CMOS. They all look like they can work. Some vendors will sell you 1 as a sample....I mean ...who would buy 100 if you didn't get a chance to test it first?

Here's a picture from the $18 camera. Works great.
It would be interesting to compare it to a CCD version....
The screen is showing quite a bit of reflection as the picture was taken in the daylight, but I think you can get an idea of the image quality.

The one I posted from eBay does not look bad at night. The backup lights and plate lights seem to illuminate it decently. The only issue I had was the picture had a slight bit of graininess to it at night since it was dark but does not look that bad. I will try and take a pic tonight of how it looks in the dark.

It took about 3 weeks to Canada. Interestingly, it was shipped from New York, but the web site was for China. I haven't checked it at night yet, but when testing in the house under low light, it was grainy. As I mentioned earlier, it was not as grainy as my $75 Boyo CMOS camera.
