I found the video quite good, and will be returning my Boyo VTL 422C, as I felt it wasn't as good as this particular unit.

It is about 1/4 the price to boot!

very good IMO picture is grainy if the lighting is dark but i dont mind it at all...

what type of HU do you have? this will determine where it will connect...
and how is it going now? does it need some more time to test?

What video input are you using and have you disabled the speed sensor and the parking brake signal?

How do you have the power hooked up?

I ordered the tmart camera today.

It may be burnt out...

I burnt one of the CMOS black and white cameras out...

Make sure to wire it to the reverse light power so that power isn't feed to it constantly.

There is no reason why a properly designed camera would "burn out" as you put it, if constantly connected to power. If it's no longer turning on and you don't get any picture, most likely what happened is one or more capacitors blew on the camera's power supply, which means it's very cheaply made. If you were adventurous you could take the camera apart and just replace the caps and it should boot up good as new, otherwise you might as well just buy a new one since they're apparently cheap.

As one final test before you chuck it, use a multimeter between the camera's power and gnd connection and make sure there is voltage getting to the camera. If not it could just be a loose/open connection somewhere.

If I wanted just a backup camera for a 2009 Nav unit would I still need sometime like Nav Tool to install the camera?

Yes. I just installed the Navtool. I tried to find a bypass/work around with no luck. I ended up purchasing a Navtool for $209 shipped a couple of weeks ago when they had a 1 day sale. I connected mine directly to a switch so I can activate and view the cam at anytime. I have a DVD player in my 4Runner and Nav bypass in my Lexus and really only used it a handful of times, so I didn't even bother with a DVD player for the Z.
