So, when I put the camera in reverse, I'll have immediately on the LCD the backup camera, or do I have to hit the AUX button?
There is any pictures that shows there to connect exactly in the back of the HU unit? I found a lot of them on Ebay, can you recommend one? Also, LED lights for license plate... P.S. Camera to be PAL or NTSC.? Some vendors are selling different versions. |
I got the same as mentioned on this thread:
Color CMOS/CCD Car Rear View Camera for Nissan Livina - Tmart.com very good IMO picture is grainy if the lighting is dark but i dont mind it at all... what type of HU do you have? this will determine where it will connect... |
I have the 2010 Roadster - HDD navigation unit.
This one: http://www.autoevolution.com/images/...ium-608_48.jpg I've ordered the camera from tmart. |
then you want to use a device like NAV tools, search for a DIY done by Zyanora I think is the name of the user.

ordered the tmart cam thanks guys for the sweet price and pictures to show it works well

SO Im gonna order this camera but Im not nearly knowledgeable enough to put it in myself. WHo can I trust to do this for me? A good car audio place? And about how much you think is a fair price for install? I have the manufacturer Nav system.
|
ok so the tmart camera stopped working does anyone know what my be the issue? I put it in reverse and nothing happens the screen doesnt change or anything? any idea?
|
What video input are you using and have you disabled the speed sensor and the parking brake signal?
How do you have the power hooked up? I ordered the tmart camera today. |
It may be burnt out...
I burnt one of the CMOS black and white cameras out... Make sure to wire it to the reverse light power so that power isn't feed to it constantly. <------lesson learned |
There is no reason why a properly designed camera would "burn out" as you put it, if constantly connected to power. If it's no longer turning on and you don't get any picture, most likely what happened is one or more capacitors blew on the camera's power supply, which means it's very cheaply made. If you were adventurous you could take the camera apart and just replace the caps and it should boot up good as new, otherwise you might as well just buy a new one since they're apparently cheap.
As one final test before you chuck it, use a multimeter between the camera's power and gnd connection and make sure there is voltage getting to the camera. If not it could just be a loose/open connection somewhere. |
this is next on the list for me..backing up sucks esp with tints lol...i found a camera with night vision but its 120...maybe i can find one for cheaper

Hmm I'm looking at some other threads and the cost to update the 09 nav software and with $300 plus just to get a backup camera working it might be easier to go with an aftermarket system.

Navtool $209 + Sony Cam $21= $230 (not too bad) |

Well I should really wait until the car actually gets here in two weeks before I start buying everything at once for it lol |
Your thread seems quite older, as its 2012 so today you can find back-up camera in online shops. We can suggest you name of brands but selection entirely depends upon your budget.

Hello;
Please pardon my confusion... I just bought a 2009 370Z Touring that has factory navigation. I would really like to install a back-up camera to assist me with backing up, blind spots, etc. The camera mentioned in this thread appears to be fairly inexpensive on Ebay. I'm still trying to decide whether to go with CCD, CMOS, or whatever. I would appreciate advice on what's the best bang for the buck. Also, do I need to purchase the NavTool Video Unlock Adaptor, or will the camera wire directly into the Navigation unit? I may have missed it, but I haven't seen a DIY or other information on this forum (I just signed up yesterday, so please don't be too tough on me). I would appreciate any advice on the right path to take. Many thanks to all. I have learned a great deal reading the information posted on this site. Hats off to the site administrator! -Max Smith |
Hi
I have a 2009MY 370Z I have bought a back up camera (replacing the licence plate light) on Ebay + a 7" LCD monitor for a total of ~60$ I'm going to fix the monitor between the seats (in the middle) on the vertical plastic panel. I have planned to connect both the camera and the monitor (6W) to the reverse light power (thus it will switch on when I will be on reverse shift) :stirthepot: That is the same layout as this one : http://nsa33.casimages.com/img/2014/...4256195951.jpg Do you think it could be an issue to supply camera+monitor using the reverse light power  I'm thinking about too high power consumption on this harness, diagnostic message on dashbord, blown fuse... |
Nobody can help me ? :o
|
My 2009 I am using the reverse light wire to activate my Camera. I bought my camera from Ebay. I'm using the Navtool for about 200.00 about 1 year ago with no problems at all. I also get an extra video input with the Navtool but I don't use it.
I cannot say whether or not you have enough current on the Z Reverse light circuit to run a Camera and LCD monitor. I would use a relay to switch 12V to the backup system with the reverse light and a transistor switch to 12V from Accy for the relay. The reverse light circuit may not supply enough current for a relay either. |
Thanks for the reply.
Do you think I can try and see if it works, or could it damage something  |
