1. is this camera working with HDD navigation unit? I dont see why not.
2. Where is the video IN connector? Yous should have an RCA in the back, I take it your nav is aftermarket... it should have come with extra RCA cables for doing this.
3. It switches on automatically in reverse (also on the LCD), or do I have to press manually AUX? yes your nav should have a trigger wire that you need to connect to the backup light...
4. There are any install instructions for this? Yes, if you search..

install is very easy... 3 wires from the camera 1. RCA back of the HU, 2. Blk wire ground it. 3. Red power wire, either connect to the reverse light or to switched power depending on what setup you want.

Horsie 05-11-2011 12:29 PM

So, when I put the camera in reverse, I'll have immediately on the LCD the backup camera, or do I have to hit the AUX button?

There is any pictures that shows there to connect exactly in the back of the HU unit?

I found a lot of them on Ebay, can you recommend one?
Also, LED lights for license plate...

P.S. Camera to be PAL or NTSC.?
Some vendors are selling different versions.

jayl 05-11-2011 02:35 PM

I got the same as mentioned on this thread:
Color CMOS/CCD Car Rear View Camera for Nissan Livina - Tmart.com
very good IMO picture is grainy if the lighting is dark but i dont mind it at all...

what type of HU do you have? this will determine where it will connect...

Horsie 05-12-2011 05:14 AM

I have the 2010 Roadster - HDD navigation unit.
This one:

I've ordered the camera from tmart.

jayl 05-12-2011 11:50 AM

then you want to use a device like NAV tools, search for a DIY done by Zyanora I think is the name of the user.

Horsie 05-13-2011 03:28 AM

uff so I need a NavTool :(

NismoZ370 07-18-2011 01:25 AM

jayl 07-18-2011 04:30 PM

I found the video quite good, and will be returning my Boyo VTL 422C, as I felt it wasn't as good as this particular unit.

It is about 1/4 the price to boot!

Thanks khameleon.I need one, too.my backing up is bad.

NismoZ370 07-25-2011 05:20 PM

just reverse all the time seems excessive to me

and how is it going now? does it need some more time to test?

moose9781 09-04-2011 04:43 PM

SO Im gonna order this camera but Im not nearly knowledgeable enough to put it in myself. WHo can I trust to do this for me? A good car audio place? And about how much you think is a fair price for install? I have the manufacturer Nav system.

NismoZ370 10-25-2011 12:42 PM

ok so the tmart camera stopped working does anyone know what my be the issue? I put it in reverse and nothing happens the screen doesnt change or anything? any idea?

KevinB 10-25-2011 11:58 PM

What video input are you using and have you disabled the speed sensor and the parking brake signal?

How do you have the power hooked up?

I ordered the tmart camera today.

Kingbaby 10-26-2011 02:20 AM

It may be burnt out...

I burnt one of the CMOS black and white cameras out...

Make sure to wire it to the reverse light power so that power isn't feed to it constantly.

<------lesson learned

Vaughanabe13 10-26-2011 09:44 AM

There is no reason why a properly designed camera would "burn out" as you put it, if constantly connected to power. If it's no longer turning on and you don't get any picture, most likely what happened is one or more capacitors blew on the camera's power supply, which means it's very cheaply made. If you were adventurous you could take the camera apart and just replace the caps and it should boot up good as new, otherwise you might as well just buy a new one since they're apparently cheap.

As one final test before you chuck it, use a multimeter between the camera's power and gnd connection and make sure there is voltage getting to the camera. If not it could just be a loose/open connection somewhere.

bacardisk3 10-26-2011 01:25 PM

this is next on the list for me..backing up sucks esp with tints lol...i found a camera with night vision but its 120...maybe i can find one for cheaper

If I wanted just a backup camera for a 2009 Nav unit would I still need sometime like Nav Tool to install the camera?

Yes. I just installed the Navtool. I tried to find a bypass/work around with no luck. I ended up purchasing a Navtool for $209 shipped a couple of weeks ago when they had a 1 day sale. I connected mine directly to a switch so I can activate and view the cam at anytime. I have a DVD player in my 4Runner and Nav bypass in my Lexus and really only used it a handful of times, so I didn't even bother with a DVD player for the Z.

Kreep 10-02-2012 06:52 PM

Hmm I'm looking at some other threads and the cost to update the 09 nav software and with $300 plus just to get a backup camera working it might be easier to go with an aftermarket system.

I don't bother upgrading the nav software. If I need the most updated streets that may have been added, I use my Samsung SIII.

Navtool $209 + Sony Cam $21= $230 (not too bad)

Is there a navtool for the 2010 so that I could install a rear camera? Or am I just SOL?

Stino 10-02-2012 08:33 PM

Here is my install. Just did it a couple of weekends ago.

True, that's not horrible. I might just do the same and forego the Nav upgrade.
Well I should really wait until the car actually gets here in two weeks before I start buying everything at once for it lol

Your thread seems quite older, as its 2012 so today you can find back-up camera in online shops. We can suggest you name of brands but selection entirely depends upon your budget.

Rmaxsmith 11-06-2012 02:00 PM

Hello;

Please pardon my confusion...

I just bought a 2009 370Z Touring that has factory navigation. I would really like to install a back-up camera to assist me with backing up, blind spots, etc. The camera mentioned in this thread appears to be fairly inexpensive on Ebay. I'm still trying to decide whether to go with CCD, CMOS, or whatever. I would appreciate advice on what's the best bang for the buck.

Also, do I need to purchase the NavTool Video Unlock Adaptor, or will the camera wire directly into the Navigation unit? I may have missed it, but I haven't seen a DIY or other information on this forum (I just signed up yesterday, so please don't be too tough on me).

I would appreciate any advice on the right path to take. Many thanks to all. I have learned a great deal reading the information posted on this site. Hats off to the site administrator!

Hi

I have a 2009MY 370Z
I have bought a back up camera (replacing the licence plate light) on Ebay + a 7" LCD monitor for a total of ~60$

I'm going to fix the monitor between the seats (in the middle) on the vertical plastic panel.

I have planned to connect both the camera and the monitor (6W) to the reverse light power (thus it will switch on when I will be on reverse shift) :stirthepot:

That is the same layout as this one :
http://nsa33.casimages.com/img/2014/...4256195951.jpg

Do you think it could be an issue to supply camera+monitor using the reverse light power
I'm thinking about too high power consumption on this harness, diagnostic message on dashbord, blown fuse...

Fock 07-02-2014 02:07 PM

Nobody can help me ? :o

Fountainhead 07-02-2014 03:09 PM

My 2009 I am using the reverse light wire to activate my Camera. I bought my camera from Ebay. I'm using the Navtool for about 200.00 about 1 year ago with no problems at all. I also get an extra video input with the Navtool but I don't use it.

I cannot say whether or not you have enough current on the Z Reverse light circuit to run a Camera and LCD monitor. I would use a relay to switch 12V to the backup system with the reverse light and a transistor switch to 12V from Accy for the relay. The reverse light circuit may not supply enough current for a relay either.

Fock 07-02-2014 04:00 PM

Thanks for the reply.

Do you think I can try and see if it works, or could it damage something
