Radio's now a days are smarter and need to detect the parking brake wire being engaged after the radio turns on. You do this buy adding a relay. The radio, once turned on, will detect the parking brake wire has been grounded and will remain locked while driving. With a relay added, the radio with turn on, parking brake will have no connection. After the unit turns on, a signal will be sent through the blue/white wire (amp turn-on), which activates the relay. Which then simulates you pushing down the parking brake after the unit turns on. All this happens very quickly but you get the idea.
Basically when the radio turns on, parking brake wire needs to show no connection first. I hope you understand it, it's the best way I can explain it. lol. For Alpine and Clarion screen it's not as simple.

It all depends on if the stations you listen to send a signal in HD. Once the radio picks up HD, you will hear a world of difference. Same station, but almost CD quality sound (way better than satellite). Also, some stations broadcast on additional channels...ie 102.3-HD1 and 102.3-HD2 in West Palm Beach, FL. The HD1 is your typical hip/rap station while 102.3-HD2 plays old school rap/hip hop. Also, out of miami, 96.5-HD1 plays hip-hop/rap/top 40 etc, 96.5-HD2 plays reggae, and 96.5-HD3 plays the local AM sports talk station in digital sound. Check out the website hdradio.com. It will show what stations are broadcasting HD in your area. Side note....I think the issue with Sirius is only applicable to Sirius (there is a converter involved). XM hooks up directly to the unit. Haven't confirmed this yet, but its a possibilty. |

Has anyone gotten this to work with the factory BOSE stereo that comes in the touring model? I know the radio itself will work with the provided harness from Crutchfield. I'm just looking for feedback on the sound quality when using stock BOSE speakers AND subwoofer.....
Is it better or worse than using the stock radio?

Now, if you don't want to be a sheep then trade in the Z on a Fiat or get that new Subaru BRZ that comes out in a few months

And if you input 2 cams into it, you'll have to alternate between views, and if you're doing this while backing up, you're still going to not see everything...

I have the evo 3d. I use my old iPhone 3G for Pandora and iPod (with no phone service). I have the sprint mobile hotspot on my evo connected to the iPhone via wifi. It costs $30 a month for the mobile hotspot, but I use it frequently with my laptop and tablet. The setup works flawlessly. The only downer is you need to plug in your evo on longer trips because the hotspot will eat the battery. This would work with an iPod touch as well.
