Adjusting crossover

I have a Alpine pdx-5 with Polk db6501 in front and a 10in Ken wood sub.

I know that adjustment points are subjective but I'm looking for a good starting point for crossover for the sub and Polk db 6501 the tweeters are on Polk's passive crossovers also would it be a good idea to leave the 3db switch on the passive crossover for the tweeters in the middle or + - 3db.

Thanks:tiphat:

I was just down stairs and I had it at 110 then turned it down to 75-80 it sounds allot better b/c it is not drowning out the 6.5 in. speakers in the doors.

Standard for a sub is LPF on 60-80hrz depending on what you like.

Try playing different music when you are tuning it, if you play rock I am sure you can set the crossover o 50Hz but if you play Rap you will find the speakers will make exploding noises with heavy bass. you may want to set it to atleast 80-100 if playing Bass heavy songs.

If you have a head unit with a crossover adjustment, you can leave the crossover in the amp off. Use the crossover in the deck and you can adjust as needed per song or style of music you listen to..
