Default Audio install on my Z!

Ok guys,

I got my Base PG 09 370z on Thursday. On Friday morning I went over to the guys at Car Audio Heaven in San Diego, and had them work on upgrading my entire audio system in my Z.

These guys came highly recommended by my friends, and 3 other shops had refused to work on my Z because it was too risky. Car Audio Heaven just took a look and within minutes, my door panels and stock radio were completely removed.

They replaced all my speakers with Boston Acoustic SX60s. 2 6.5-inch components in the door panels, 2 1-inch tweeters in the dash, and also 2 3.5-inchers in the back two speakers holes that were previously reserved for the touring's Bose speakers. They Dynamatted all the speaker areas.

This was powered by a kenwood Excelon XR-4S amplifier that was installed under my passenger seat.

The final audio upgrade for now is the Head Unit, which is an Eclipse AVN 4430, and it simply looks amazing! They also threw in 35% tint.

Because this was their first 370z, they were extremely meticulous and ill have to say, their reputation precedes them. It took them 9 hours to do it all and they must have reinstalled stuff more than once just to make sure it was done right!

If you live in the San Diego area and need stuff installed, PM me for contact info.

and for anyone who wants to know. PICS TO COME!

How much for the install ??

Can you list other than the tint what was upgraded again.

My understanding is tweeters, door speakers, rear speakers, amp, headunit.....no subs I guess.

Ill have my camera back tomorrow. Install was pricey, about 350 overall. Heres what was installed:

2 x 6.5 Inch Boston Sx60s Components
2 x 3.5 Inch Boston Sx60s
2 x 1 Inch Boston Tweeters
1 x Kenwood eXcelon XM-4S 4-Channel Amplifier
1 x Eclipse AVN 4430 Head Unit
1 x PAC Unit for steering wheel controls

Total for everything was $1450, including monster re-wiring, dynamat around all the speakers, and removal and replacement of all the speaker wires.

How's the sound? I assume you will add a sub later? Also, the 4330 has built in Bluetooth. Is the microphone built into the head unit, or one of those wired separate mics that you have to hide somewhere? I really like the clean install and look of a unit with a built-in mic, but that feature is just starting to be adopted by the manufacturers.

Car Audio Heaven tuned it, so it sounds awesome. even at high volume, the clarity is amazing. I will add a sub later, but they quoted me 1k for a sub setup, which is way out of my range at the moment, but im sure a 10 in the back would make it sound amazing.

As for the AVN 4430, yes, the bluetooth is built into the unit, no weird mic needed to be installed anywhere. only downside is you have to talk into the unit, which isnt too bad on the Z because everything is jampacked so tight together.

I wonder what they would do for a sub. I would like a stealth setup, without giving up the spare tire................ ,might be hard to do. I would only use the bluetooth while sitting in the drivers seat, and since the unit is just to the right in front of the driver, shouldn't be an issue with the built-in mic.

I am being quoted around $1800.00 for equipment and install for the following:

1 x Kenwood DDX w/nav/bluetooth/Sat radio
2 x 6.5 inch Focal 165 VR speakers for the doors
2 x 1.0 inch Focal tweeter install
1 x Boston GT 40 amp
1 x Boston G21055 Sub in box
1 x wireharness
labor

This is my direction.....Labor works out to be about 500 of the cost, I wasn;t sure if this was high or not.

What's the sub box look like, and where is it going?

John:

Choosen, but solution and exact location pending. I am still trying to swallow the $500 install fee. I have not pulled the trigger on this job yet.

well they have never done a Z before, and installation would have been more, but they gave me a nice discount because i was getting so much work done. Keep in mind it took one guy a full 9 hours to install, and a second guy put about 4 hours on and off throughout the day, and this doesnt even include the 2 guys who did the tint.

They told me in terms of the sub, they would built a custom fiberglass mold so that I would be able to keep the spare tire. again, this was quoted as being 1000 dollars, which would include a high-end sub, fiberglass mold, kenwood amp, and installation. pretty decent pricing, but i wont be able to get it done for awhile.

Pics should be up tomorrow night.

I think it's a matter of time before someone comes up with a stealth box for the spare tire that replaces the bose one. The slimline subs like JL and Pioneer are making might make that feasible.
