Bang for Buck. JL Audio is my vote. Owned their subs for 7 years. They have SQ and SPL capabilities

Best Sound Quality hands down is the JL Audio 12W6-V2 in a 1.5 cu ft sealed enclosure.

IMHO: This sub has no equal when it comes to playing loud and dead-on accuracy. This driver has incredibly low distortion and lots of X-max to move a ton of air.

^+1 I've owned 3 12W6s. All have been reliable and lasted long periods of time, always sounding great. Need a quality amp for the cleanest power. the 10W6 is also good if you don't need your bones shaked.

I cheaper alternative to the w6 is an Image Dynamics IDQ. I have the v2 (metal basket) that I like a lot. The V3 is the newer design and has a composite (plastic) basket. I haven't heard one of those. The idq's don't require as much air space. rated for .6-1.0 cube ft. Most of the reviews I have read say they are very much in the same league as the w6, but slightly more SQ bias.

I have been a JL AUDIO Dealer since 1993 and they make great subwoofers. they are what most companies are trying to copy and compare their line of subs most of the time. JL in my opinion has set the standard for Good Subwoofer Audio reproduction in a car. They truly believe in making the subwoofer perform great. I have had 2 x 12w6 subwoofers in my own car and they sounded unbelievable. I purpose built a smaller enclosure for them to allow them to hit hard and play Rock music compfortably, I gave them 500 Watts each and they outperformed my expectations. Nickelback, Limp Bizkit, Godsmack all sounded nice and punch and you could hear all the details associated in that frequency levels. But when I wanted to demo a Rap They also allowed me to show the potential of the subs. Black eyed peas sounded the best with this set up.

The only other sub I woule suggest is the HERTZ High Energy line and the Mille line of subs.

I do not have any experience with ID.
