Hardcortes's finished 2010 Nismo - Work done by PG6speed (most of it) hehe

Well folks... for the past two days I have been laying down some dead shield (same thing as dynamat just a different name) and I am exhausted! This is some backbreaking work! I ended up using almost 50 pounds (48.2 to be exact) of the stuff and the amount of noise that has been eliminated is pretty freaking incredible!

This is how it worked out:
Trunk: 8 18inx32in sheets (32 sq ft)
doors: 1 18inx32in sheet per door (8 sq ft)
Interior: 6 18inx 32in sheets (24sq ft)

64 sq ft in all. You may think this is overkill... but the sounds that I am not hearing makes the trouble that I went through very worthwhile.

I want to give a special shout out to SlikNik and his very helpful videos and pg6speed for his reassurance.

Here are some of the pics from yesterday and today. I will post more as the sound system install progresses.

I had originally ordered my 13" JL Audio fiberglass subwoofer box from Wicked CAS. I had also shipped my spare tire out to their location to have them remedy the fitment problem with the Nismo/Sport models but after waiting 3 months for a car to come in, I opted to have Wicked CAS send my spare tire back to me, refund my money (which they did and I might add they were very professional and very courteous) and have my boy, Ty, aka PG6Speed on the forum, build the subwoofer box. Here is a picture heavy album of the job done. Ty was great to work with and his work on previous installs was top notch. He is very knowledgeable and doesn't take any short cuts. He explains everything down to the tee and for a person such as myself, that is not so bright in the audio dept, he was a godsend. I asked if I could help with the install because this was my baby and he had no problems with that at all. He was very patient and I can't thank him enough. Anyways... enough accolades for Ty... here is what he and I (Mostly he because he knocked out the subwoofer box today 01/15/11) all by himself with very minimal assistance from me. To keep me bass-satisfied, we put one of PG6Speed's 8in custom made fiberglass sub boxes (which he has posted on the forum here) behind the driver and let me tell you, those 8's hit pretty hard and sound very good for being such a small speaker. The great thing about those is that they don't take up much space at all! We did the audio components installation sometime in October and like I said before, the subwoofer enclosure was done today (01/15/11). Enjoy…

Nice work!

Did you just drill holes through the carpet under your seat to fix the amp?

n1cd 01-16-2011 07:50 PM

Questin, Could you install a flat grill across the sub so the mat would lie flat if you wanted to hide it?

Waiz 01-16-2011 07:52 PM

Very nice job

Yes you could but you would have to build the floor up to get the room. In this install the floor is no higher than it is from the factory. I could have cut a couple more pieces of mdf to flush mount the sub then put a flat grille over it but Hardcortes has the cargo cover so you cant see it unless the hatch is open.

Guys, great work! super clean install.

Enrique, I would love to hear the output of your system sometime. I'm really considering the Polk 6501's amped, in my setup. Just not sure if I want to run a large sub, small 8's like Ty's, or a hidden bazooka tube

Hey Ty, I'm next! lol.

Cmike2780 01-16-2011 11:01 PM

Not my style and would personally leave the Nismo alone. Nevertheless, that's real clean install OP, looks good.

Just say the word and we'll make it happen. The 8's have been ok but they're in my garage now, I'm going with something bigger. I think I'm going to make another box like this one. Enriques setup sounds great and very unobtrusive since there is no visible box or amp. It was a fun install.

Boost_lee 01-16-2011 11:16 PM

Sounds good, I never got to hear the 8's unfortunately, but they might be something that would fit my needs. I'd like something that has little loss of space with clean and responsive bass.

That box came out very clean though, and just hearing Enrique's or your setup might just convince me to do it.

Dude... If you want to go with the 8s behind the seat... It actually sounds really good and you are not losing anything in the space dept.
