Bose pre-out harness adapter
 

I have a 2010 40th Anniversary with Bose and Connect Premium, etc. I want to keep the factory head unit for obvious reasons. This is NOT negotiable, so no recommendations for aftermarket HUs please guys :)

What I'd like to do is feed the Bose pre-outs into an Audison Bit One (also, non negotiable) for EQ, etc. Does anyone make a harness adapter so I don't have to splice or cut the factory harness. I envisage taking the pre-out at the Bose amp input end, and adapting the harness there for input to the Bit One.

My understanding is that the Bose amp has a base EQ profile tailored for the vehicle and that the EQ controls on the HU are in addition to this base EQ. Is my understanding on this correct? I know with the Bit One I can achieve a relatively flat response quote easily as a basis for EQ, but I wanted to know how unmolested the pre-out signal is from the HU in the first place.

The output from the deck is flat and unamplified, this being said there is zero need to 'flatten' it. If you're that concerned with cutting wires, then a Metra 70-7552 + 71-7552 could be used as a pigtail at the deck.

Okay, I would've preferred to take it from the Bose amp input, but I guess out of the HU would be okay too just means a longer non OEM cable run. Thanks for the help, I'll look at that more closely. One slight concern is that the Metra spec says it's compatible with models excluding Navigation... However, the pinouts appear identical to those in the service manual for the 2010 with Navigation, so it's probably worth a go!

The output from the Bose HU is a balanced low voltage signal going into the stock Bose amps with 4 channels and one more additional wire that i believe removes engine noise and other interference. I ended up using the High Level speaker outputs from the Bose AMP to connect and Sum with the RE-Q.

I tried to make my own RCA cable with the Low Voltage signal but since it was a balanced signal i don't think I could get it working correctly because i had too much noise.

You can make your own harness to go from the Bose AMP Out to your summing device but you'll also need to make one more additional harness to go from your Speakers if you want to avoid cutting completly.

And as far as anyone making anything I don't think they do.

The audison is a great choice for a factory integration unit. I would agree with the weapon however I am not sure how strong the low out puts are of the bose system.

Differentially balanced - your amplifier was most likely not able to accept the signal well.

The output is in (at mid level) a bit under 2V, very comparable to most aftermarket HUs. Although if anyone is in my area and wants to know definitively I can just pull your deck and throw a scope on it.

I'm actually thinking of using MS-8 now. Pretty sure it accepts the balanced inputs. Do you know for sure 6spd?

If you are using an aftermarket processor you will not need the EQ in the Bose amp. That is kind of the point you will be using the Bit or the MS-8. Like someone else suggested you would be better off going after the head unit and not after the bose amp. Atleast that would be my recommandation.

the bose acoustic EQ is a very werd program. on my G35C's bose system it even auto-compensates if you give it too much signal.

i might even suggest you try different speakers with adjustable crossover rather than playing with signal processing...at the end your output volume could suffer.

Yes I know, that's why I'm trying to tap _before_ the amp and also why I asked about the signal out of the HU :happydance:

No it won't. I will be eliminating the Bose amplifier and speakers by tapping into the harness before the Bose amp and replacing all of the speakers and doing my own amplification. I just need to make sure that whatever processor I choose can accept the differentially balanced outputs of the Bose HU.

Good luck with the install. Sounds like it will be a great sounding system. What are you using for front and rear speakers?
