1" tweeters?
Can someone please recommend a good tweeter for the 370? I installed a pair of Alpine componets that I got for Christmas and I've already been through two tweeters. I've been doing wiring for the last 6 years, I know they are connected properly. I also don't listen to my stereo loud either...
I was driving home tonight and the driverside tweeter just started rattling and making a terrible noise. I'm done with them and would like to upgrade. I have a stock head base head unit and an iPod. Suggestions audio guys? |

Are you using these with a bose system? Are you using stock wire? Are you sure you have them connected right to the crossover they came with? If you know they are wired right than it sounds like your stressing them giving them the stock 10 watts or so and should look to upgrade the input to like an amp or something. They should not be blowing like that. Also using a different tweeter with the alpine crossover is not recommended.

Hmmm... May have just found the issue. I connected the speakers to the factory wiring, and did the same to the tweeters. They aren't connected to eat other.
I have a base model, so it has the base head unit with no extra amp. Is the cross over the black thing that came in the box with like 4 wires on it? I've never installed speakers or anything audio related so I really have no idea. Im capable of doing it myself, I just have no real experience with audio. Thanks for the help! |

that is your problem you need to cut the factory wire and wire that into your crossover that came with the speakers than run new wire from that to the speakers. Your blowing tweeters because there is nothing filtering the mids and lows and thus blowing them.

Ahh.... Ok!
So I need to run the wires from the speakers in my doors to the tweeters an connect them to the factory tweeter wires? Or does that not get connected back? The diagrams that I saw on the back of the Alpine box didn't have anything dictating what to do with those. I assume the diagram was for a car that didn't come with factory tweeters.. right? Would it be better to replace the door speakers with non-component speakers and run a larger or better tweeter in the dash? I really want to beef up my sound quality and the speakers have helped a lot... will I have to connect these differently when I change my head unit? Edit: While I'm asking so many questions and you're being so helpful, what are your thoughts on the Apline iDA-X305S? I've owned my Z for almost 2 months now and I haven't used the CD player once. Would this headunit, a Bazooka bta6250d and the speakers I have now work well together? Last edited by TypeOne; 12-30-2010 at 12:37 AM. |
