Amp Help
I am about to install a custom box in the spare tire with the JL AUDIO 13TW5-3 13.5" sub. I am just having trouble deciding on an amp. I have the nismo so I only have 4 speakers. I already replaced the two door speakers with some pretty solid boston acoustics but probably wont replace the small tweeters up on the dash. I cant decide if I just wana do a mono amp that powers only my sub or if I want to do a 3/4 channel amp and power my sub and my two door speakers. I dont wana spend a ton on the amp and I know it will probably be cheaper going with the mono setup. If anyone has any suggestions it would be much appreciated! Is having my amp power my door speakers really worth getting a 3/4 channel amp?

i would go with a 3-4 channel, the more bass you have the less you'll be able to hear the fronts, or at least have a balanced set up. That sub will put out more then enough bass with correct power to drown out your fronts running of just deck power.

The alpine pdx5 is a nice amp you can bridge the 4 channels to two to power the speakers and the 5th channel for a sun and for a bonus its small and does not put out heat.

For something that would fit nice i would look at the MTX TE604, Boston GT40(if it's still that model number), JL has a couple 4ch amp, about 75-100 watts RMS/ch. and a few others, just depends on the budget...personally i'm not a fan of Japanese amps, not any built in the last 10 yrs anyway.

I completely agree if you are doing speakers get components and do the woofers and tweeters. MTX the only amps they make good are sub amps, for quality speaker amps they are loud and obnoxious with the sound quality they put out. Their higher end ones from back in the day were nice though.

Thanks for the advice guys! I think for now I am going to just do the sub and a mono amp. Later down the road I might go all out and replace the tweeters and run an amp to the speakers, but for now I would like to see how it sounds with the sub. I dont really have the money to do everything and I am not looking for anything crazy just a little upgrade to my current setup.

Agreed, Ive run the TXC components in my last three vehicles. Handle lots of power and sound great.
