Default rear view cam question

Is there anyway to use your rear view camera when your not in reverse? Theres really no purpose but some times I do wish I can see whats behind my car in the dark.

Is there a button you can setup or anything like that?

If you have an aftermarket headunit.. check your user manual. Some of them have the option built in.

Type of camera is irrelevant. Diagram works for any head unit which senses reverse light circuit to select back up camera input.

I should mention that if the Camera is powered from the reverse lights (as mine is), you need to move the camera power to a switched 12v supply.

JayYoon, check out this plug and play kit bdl99 is working on. With this kit you should be able to have reverse camera on when you want too, play DVDs while driving, and input navigation and phone commands while driving also.

I was just reading the owners manual for both x920bt and nd-bc4 and i had no luck finding how to manually turn on the rear view cam. I believe it is possible though... anyone know how?

tap the home button twice. you can select the "rear camera" icon and move it to the home screen. after that you can simply touch it whenever you want it to turn on. doesnt work for me though...i took the easy way out and just wired my reverse camera power to my reverse lights.

jay- just remember that if your polarity is reversed everything you see on your rearview camera will be everything forward of your car.
